Dual Channel RAM benefits
01-03-2022 at 09:35 AM
Dual channel. Oh well, if you plan to get exact the same 16gb ram from dell later then go ahead.
01-07-2022 at 03:38 PM
DDR5 by default is dual channel. So I would go with one 16GB instead of two 8 GB

Its nearly the best components you can buy. The tier above this, 12900k+3090 you get single digit % FPS gains but for far far more money. This is it if you need a MSFS rig, unless you feel like spending another grand for 7% more FPS.
01-04-2022 at 10:11 AM
Yes but without knowing monitor size, make, model, HDR or not etc., and your FS settings this is a generic answer...

Your question is incorrect in the first place. Non-K versions can't be overclocked. So, you can go with the normal Cooler but if you are getting the K version then Liquid Cooler is highly recommended because for overclocking, you need a better cooler than the stock air cooler Dell system comes with.

I don't know too much about PC's but want to share my experience. Bought two Dell XPS 8940 last year (i7 and 3060ti). Same as everyone has said, propriety motherboard, terrible cooling, etc. BOTH of the graphics cards had issues (error 43 on both, even after 12+ hours on tech support with Dell and NVIDIA). Was a terrible and stressful ordeal for my first gaming PC. Still don't have one

Was tempted since this guarantees a 3080 but community feedback makes passing easier since I wasn't sold on the case and other components anyway. This supply/ demand crunch has been brutal.

Save10 coupon code also works this weekend

What are you guys that are getting 16GB ram doing ? Should I go with the 8+8 so I can add another 8+8 later? I can't see myself wanting more than 32 GB ram.
When we add the 2nd pair do they have to match Speed, etc for the first ?

motherboard would need to go to. it's proprietary form factor. you're looking at a minimum of $400 that you'd need to spend, since ddr5 motherboards are still expensive
and the power supply

If all you're after is the 3090, you can now build this model with the i3-12100 (it does have iGPU), remove the keyboard and mouse, use the 10% coupon, and total comes to $2300.25 + tax. Don't forget 4% TCB.

PayPal has 4% cash back for Dell, but I really can't figure out how it works. If you pay with PayPal, I don't see anything indicating the transaction was successful. Maybe you have install an extension?
For the PayPal 4% CB to post, you will need to click through the dell link from the PayPal website and then complete your purchase just like how you use rack-u-10. Simply paying with PayPal won't work.

Ideally, the next set of ram sticks should be identical i.e same manufacturer, same model, same batch of silica etc. Or sell the first set and get 4 identifical sticks.
Also, all the coupons are now dead

That is not all required at all. You basically needs a Ram with same Clock speed and same Clock latency and that's all. Those stories about exact same model or from exact same manufacturers are really old and I mean really really old. People are running Dual channel with different brand perfectly fine for decades now. I have that both in Desktops and Laptops for years.

Only works on the prebuilt "deals" it looks like - I tried it with a bare bones build to get a 3090.

I ended up getting the 32 GB because I don't know when DDR5 prices will actually go down and I was spending almost $3k anyway (12700k, 3090).

But if you're doing it you should definitely get the 8+8 for dual channel benefits.

Quote from Suryasis :
It is uATX and you are correct. People sometimes try really hard to generalize all the Pre-Built based on one example. What can be proprietary is the Power Connector which sometimes does not use standard 24 pin connector. However, that's pretty easy to solve as there are plenty of Adapters available at very cheap price in Amazon or eBay for converting the standard 24 pin connector to a compatible Dell one.

you are both complete imbeciles and you are both wrong. it took me 15 seconds to find the service manual. https://dl.dell.com/content/manua...us&ps=true

page 12 shows all the components, including the motherboard [ibb.co]. does that look like an mATX to either of you? which ATX case do you think this will fit into? there, you are wrong. happy now?

also, this PSU puts out 12V ONLY. your stupid adapters will not magically help this PSU sprout 3.3V and 5V rails. if you want to repackage this computer in an off the shelf ATX case, you will need a new motherboard and a new PSU in addition to the case you will be buying.

here is more generalization for you: dell is trash.

next time, instead of "researching" reddit posts from people who are just as clueless as you are, just go to google and type in, "X service manual" where "X" is the computer/TV/3D printer/car/air conditioner or whatever else you need help with. it really is that simple

Looks like the Save10 still works for me on my business account. Debating on waiting for this deal to reappear or for a better deal. What do you guys think pricing going to get better?
