I love how accurate the air tags are but there are some functions that are missing that wont make me switch to them just yet. Bought 1 couple months ago and compared to the tile it is more accurate and responsive. Somethings I wish they would improve on would be a little louder speaker because i tested them while inside a bag and had to be within 3 feet to hear it. Another function would be the ability to ring your phone with the Air tags. Last function would be to share the air tag with family member on the same family account. With Tile I can ring my wife's tile when I need to find something of hers.

You need an iPhone or iPad for initial setup.


When enabling the airtag, you don't get the setup screen on a Macbook, but you can use a Macbook to find the airtag if setup previously with an iphone or ipad.

I bought it. Hopefully it will be restocked soon and shipped out. I also bought a keychain and a bike mount holder that can be hidden behind a water bottle cage. I probably don't need it as I use a krytonite ny standard u-lock and am in low theft neighborhood but it gives me a little more peace of mind knowing that there is a bluetooth tracker on it.

I also have a Samsung SmartTag and Tile Pro 2020 & 2022 but I don't have anywhere to hide it on my road bike or mountain bike. There isn't any smarttag/tile pro bike mount for them and I don't want to hide it under the seat. I actually have a triangle frame bag on all four of my bikes so I could possibly make a slit in the inner lining and drop any tracker inside there. Gonna use the airtag bike mount for my road bike. I don't ride my mountain bike on the road or commuting so I really don't need it for that bike. I will do the slit in my triangle bag for my other bikes.

* I know some people are taking out the speaker so it won't warn thieves with beeps. I don't know if I will do that but it does make more sense if I were going to use it strictly for a bike tracker. It will still warn an apple phone using bike thief with a notification once they arrive at their home though.

Ppl are out here skeptical about the government planting chips in them. Guess what? they don't have to they'll just track you with the own shit you're buying yourself lol (phone,tablet, AirTags etc)

Sure, but I'd generalize that statement to say: it's good for anyone who 1) tends to lose stuff (or is afraid of losing something specific), and 2) is already in the Apple/iOS ecosystem. I wouldn't burden an elderly PC/Android aficionado with an Airtag - that would just be too much effort to make it work. But anyone already using a Mac/iPhone/iPad - sure, elderly or not, it's a good product

I like them and put them on my dogs, camper, boat, cars, car keys, etc. the only beef I have is they are tied to one account and not shareable. I'd like to be able to share the location of these things with my wife or family so they can track down a loose pet, for example, if I'm not home. We leave on vacation and our dogs go to the grandparents and I'd like to be able to share our pet AirTags with them while we're gone.

They can disable their phone being used to track it but not the air tag itself. Another Apple device would pick it up.

I keep mine in my luggage and it's not with me all the time. My spouse is currently in a different state with one of my air tags in their bag and it's not beeping. Been gone for a week. Just checked with them to make sure that it wasn't.
