Same deal from BB with BB GC for 50 and 55", I think Amazon is just copying.

The Amazon deal is a little weird. It looks like you are purchasing a $100 gift card to get an additional $100 discount on the tv. The 55 inch shows up in my cart at
$449$349. Total out the door for me is $473.43 but that is for the tv and $100 gift card. Better deal than best buy. It's really a great deal,....
The review should still be useful for the 55" and 50" though they have fewer local dimming zones, which is to be expected. The 65" has a BGR sub-pixel pattern and therefore isn't ideal for use as a big computer monitor (Disclaimer: I haven't used a BGR panel and I am suspicious of how big of a deal it is INFO LINK [displayninja.com]). Dunno about the 50" or 55".
The 65" has a VA panel, and rtings believes the 50" and 55" do as well. The 75" they say might be a mix of panels. I prefer VA panels to IPS. My take is that if you are sitting in the "sweet spot" VA is notably better than IPS (mostly in contrast performance), whereas if you are viewing from off center, a VA panel image degrades a bit whereas IPS holds up better. There are lots of nice televisions using panels of either family.
Thumbs up.
Though it is noteworthy on deals with bundled gift cards that you are essentially paying sales tax twice on the gift card portion, as the item you buy with it will have tax charged as well (straight-up buying a gift card doesn't get charged sales tax).Edit: It is not bundled! It is itemized! Yay!Sign up for a Slickdeals account to remove this ad.
