You can use Samsung's own software for ssd optimization and health analysis: Samsung Magician
"Geek Squad Certified" is such a worthless "guarantee".
My 75yr old grandma who can't figure out how to set the time on her microwave is more qualified to certify any electronics than any Geek Squad worker I've ever seen, and 3 of my friends work for Geek Squad for 2-3 years so I know exactly how incompetent they are!
many different ways to do this, probably the simplest and cheapest way on Windows is to use CrystalDiskInfo

My 1TB from the last deal arrived. 97GB Written. 0 Hours. Powered on 3 times. Doesn't really get better than that.

Any recommendations for a cheap case to convert this to an external storage device?
I just use a cable and skip the case

Here are a couple brands but there are many others

I'm not understanding the V-Nand product. I mean I did research and read but why would it be more expensive if its the same capacity and still plugging into SATA 3? All of the research talks about the potential that v-nand may be able to come in at much higher capacities further down the road; ok great so what. Can anyone help clarify the actual use case or practical differences when comparing these two options?

90 day warranty is pretty terrible, even for a refurb. Don't put anything on a drive with a short warranty that you don't mind losing. Having said that, this would be a perfect secondary drive for your video game libraries.

I have both the evo and qvo installed in my computer.
Evo is the C: drive and qvo just for storage.
They both seem to run fine with no probs for a while now.

Is the refurb 2tb QVO for $149 worth it??? How does this compare with the new Levin 2tb deal from last week for $130???

I hear they refurbish them by using a toothbrush to get all the dried, stuck on bits out.

Thanks for the link, this is the same written info I saw as well. So basically in summary there is no advantage at all and the 3d version is not as slick of a deal in the context of these discounts. Infact the non 3d version is newer and slightly faster/better for less cost.

QVO is correct. These are not EVO drives, they are a step down from EVO.

Bought this exact same one refurbished and it's been great! Using it for external SSD for games.

Admittedly, I do not know much on the topic of NAND storage, but I understood the video to say that 3d-NAND was newer, more space efficient, faster, and had a longer lifespan.

Which drives are you specifically trying to decide between?

Really odd these all have low usage. I'm beginning to wonder if it's Samsung that is quietly supplying these drives to BB. Take a drive submitted as part of the regular 5yr warranty for whatever failure issues. Those failed drives can't legally be resold as new so they can be chucked OR they can be fixed cheaply by Samsung and passed off to BB cheaply, who commits to buy them in bulk, where they only have a 90 day BB warranty. With odds calculated that even a cheaply fixed drive likely wont fail within three months time, it's a win-win for both manufacturer and vendor. Just a suspicion.
