This would be have been an even better deal if Google Fi supported esim on these Samsung phones, but as far as I can tell it is not yet supported.
If the sim isnt in the s21, you dont get credit. They changed it to be active, meaning, you are actually using the account
You will instead lose the $400 savings and be charged that at 4 months. You will need to use fi for the 4 months.

For premium phones, that time is now doubled to 120 days and the phones are still pricey. After 120-days, you may have a cheaper price for S21 elsewhere. Unless someone is planning to use Google Fi, this may not be that slick. My $0.02.
It's less than two weeks since I posted the above, and price already dropped $100. 🤷 You didn't have to wait 120 days to find a lower price.
I ported into FI to get the $100 credit which I should be getting soon(starts second month) + $20 referral
Unlocked S21 for $400 sounds pretty good...
Did this deal also have fi $100 credit ? I thought OP mentioned only phone discount. Anyways were you allowed to use the fi credit towards bills after 1st month or do you need to complete 4 months first and the the fi bill credit kicks in ?
Then FI started S21 deal for $299 which requires service for 120 days. But my $100 credit will take care of that.
so $299 for unlocked S21.

But didn't the S21 deal require a new line to be opened ?
Also the $100 fi credit you got for BYOD how would that transfer to the S21's line?
I thought the credit is tied to the particular line not to the fi account.
