My kids dive into a plate of broccoli like it's pizza. Always served it since they were young, so they don't know any better. They fight over a bowl of fruits too. I never had candy or cookies in the house before the SD stockpiles. It's all Target's fault. Big Grin

DS was 9 lbs 1 oz at birth. The boy is only 32 lbs at 5 yrs old.

I don't think birth weight is any indication....

Hey. That's what my DS was. And 22 inches long. And almost 3 weeks early. God help me with this one. laugh out loud
My DS was born at 36 weeks on the nose (with the help of a little castor oil/root beer concoction) - I knew I was early but I couldn't take it anymore!!!! He was 20 3/4 inches long and weighed in at 9lb 7oz. He was 2 oz less than his sister was at 40 weeks!!!

I do totally recommend the castor oil, although it was definitely the worst thing I have ever tasted in my life. vomit

Yep. He's a chunk monkey. He's been in the 95%-97% for height and weight pretty much since birth. He has his 3 year check up next week. I'm sure he's already over 40lbs.

nod It's called Deceptively Delicious. I bought it when it first came out just out of curiousity. We made a few of the recipes, the ones that we made were tasty and you could not tell at all that there were veggies in them. But it is a LOT of work in the begining coz you have to make all the purees first, more time than I had, esp since my kiddo loves veggies...it's meat that she is not so fond of. I actually use to like to trick up the DH with some of the recipes! He's not so good at eatin his veggies Nono1

Quote from BFshopgirl :
Good way to get them thier need vitamins and nutrients but it's not actually teaching them to eat thier veggies.
She actually addresses this in the book. She says that while she is preparing meals, she puts out cut up fresh veggies for them to snack on while she is cooking, kinda like an appetizer. She also says that she still puts veggies on their plate with meals but if they don't eat them or just sorta pick at them at least she knows that they are still getting the veggies in places that they are completely unaware of.

I have seen posts with teeny, tiny babies and posts of you that had big babies...I don't know how you handled the itty bitty ones. Mine were 8 lbs.9 oz, 7 lbs 9 oz and 8 lbs 6 oz.
Memories sure do come back to me when reading the posts about getting the kids to eat veggies and all....
I use to ask mine if they were full yet, they'd say yes. I'd then ask if they wanted ice cream and of course, they'd say yes. Then I told them they weren't full if they could eat ice cream...Mean, huh? I wasn't mean, really. All my kids were pretty good eaters.

Wow, Teri, that was quite a trip home...sounds like you had time for a nap laugh out loud

Man, I need a T run soon...I hate I have to drive so far to one Mad

Mofome, what are the Kleenex qs you found?

Ok birth weights. My girls were almost the same exact weight. Alexa was born @ 41 weeks (over due and induced) and weighed 8 lbs 5.5 oz. and was 21 inches long. Soph was born @ 38 weeks (planned C section) and weighed 8 lbs 5.2 oz and was 21 inches long. They were 90 or 95th percentile for wt and ht but they both dropped a lot of weight right away. Alexa was at the 10th percentile by 2 weeks (EEK! scared the Horse outta me!) and Soph was at the 50th percentile by 2 weeks. They both have stayed at the 2 week percentile range since then, so no worries from the dr's. Smilie

laugh out loud Funny that you have been talking about eating veggies. My girls and I are sitting here listening to music and enjoying some ice cream (a real treat since we don't eat it often here Smilie). Alexa takes a bite and says "This ice cream is SOOO GOOD, I could eat the entire pint, but don't worry I won't, I know it is not healthy to do it." She takes another bite and says "Though momma, I know some ppl do that when they are upset, but I am not gonna do that. I am gonna eat a whole bowl of carrots!" Big Grin Silly kid! I don't even know where she got the ice cream eating when upset from, bc we dont do that. Must be the TV laugh out loud

You had some big babies!! My DD was 7lb, 9oz and 19.25" long. She's going to be 2 next month and is now 34.5" tall and 29lbs.

She was so funny during dinner today. I offered her a kidney bean for her to eat and she looked at me and said, "No thank you, yuck." I was : omg: where did this come from?!?

Oh, and any advice on how to get a "strong-willed" child to eat veggies?!?
OK, if we are comparing birth weights, the baby was just under 21" and 8 1/2 lbs. As of last Friday, he's 26.75" and 16.1 lbs. He's long and skinny, but feels like a sack of bricks after I've been carrying him around all day. laugh out loud

Teri, I was Cold just reading about your DS. OMG, that is so tiny!!

As far as the veggies go, :dontkow: I was raised to eat "healthy" and I always have but also have hidden junk food cravings since I was never allowed ANY of that stuff at home at all. So I've been trying to figure out a middle way for baby boy, to teach him to eat healthy but not make treats "forbidden."

For the record, his favorite of the foods he's gotten (besides momma juice, 'natch) is peas. Apples, he hated. Confused

Quote from mofome :
Thanks! He alternates between feeling good and positive and being totally down in the dumps about it. Today's a down in the dumps day, but tomorrow's a second interview with a very promising company, so I hope that works out!

What's that book that's out that basically has you mix in veggies in stuff they like so they don't even know they're eating veggies? Ha, very helpful I know! I'm sure someone else will know what I'm talking about.

So guess what I found tonight? More Kleenex size 01's! So I now have 2 of the hottest coupons out there to trade! But for what...??? I'm coming up empty? Do I really want more Cesar b2g1s???

Anyone else having issues with 01's at K? I heard another report of them beeping, wasn't it Ariel who had that too?
Good luck to your DH mofo.

I found a whole freakin' pad of the Kleenex Qs tonight too. . . more on that later. And yeah, I'm having problems at KM. Sadwalk

Iagree I always thought that whole "trick them into eating veggies" thing was pretty suspect.

Interesting. I didn't actually bother to read the book, just judged it by its cover. Coverlaugh

And laugh out loud at your DH. I've got mine eating veggies after 12 years together. Roll

Well, I had the KM run from hell today. Kleenex did NOT auto (and there were no family members tagging along), and even so my total seemed higher than it should have been. So I checked the receipt to find that my very nice cashier has failed to scan one of my pampers Qs. Frown I may have to retire from KM. Cashier selection has been terrible lately and I'm having the worst luck!!

So now what to do with this whole freaking pad of Kleenex Qs I thought I was so lucky to find tonight. . . oh, I guess I'll figure out something. Rofl2
