This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Hey Guys - can you spare some positive thoughts -

One of our dogs (a small grey & white sheltie) was stolen out of our backyard last night - I know he is a cutie and super sweet (for those who know show sheltie dogs he was one of those) but he is older & a rescue. Anyway - I take turns letting the dogs out so they each have their own time outside in the fenced yard to do their thing and also have run around time. They have plenty of outside time to play together.

Anyway - he is always the last one out in the rotation and he went out and was outside for about 45 min. When I went to get him he was NOT in the yard anywhere. The gates are all still closed there are NO holes (but he wasn't a digger anyway) and there is no way he got out and closed the gate himself.

I drove around for several hours last night hoping that some weird way he had gotten out. He has twice in the past gotten out of the garage but then he promptly comes and sits at the front door expectantly waiting to get in LOL. Anyway - I gave up at 5am and didn't find him anywhere - so I have to go to the police department (where they won't care a fig anyway) and make a report. Sigh .... please think positive thoughts!

I am going to put up posters asking for his return - keep your fingers crossed!
Pray he comes back home soon..hug

That is so not not cool! I don't mention something about a woman being pregnant unless she is practically bustin' that baby out in front of me. I would never want to be wrong like that shake head
My husband says "unless I see the baby coming out between her legs, I keep my mouth shut."

He memorizes everything. He is obsessed with planets right now. There order, rotation, temperature, etc. It used to me infomercials. By just looking at him socially, he seems fine. He goes regress around other children. He is 4 and 56 pounds. The largest kid in his class, but he backs down sometimes. Not always.
He is very sensitive to sound or touch. Even brushing his hair with a soft brush kills him. Just today he freaked in a public bathroom. He HATES them because the toilets are so loud. When Madelyn was tiny he would cry when she cried because of the sound.
Now he cries when she gets shots because he loves her so much heart He is different. I just can't quite put my finger on it though.
Does he get headaches? My oldest DD had similar behaviors and we found out that she was hypersensitive because of migraines and hyper-sensitive nerve endings. She's since outgrown most of it, but there are some nerve meds that helped during the worst parts.

With his other behaviors, though, I'd definitely take him to be evaluated. It could be any number of things and googling will only freak you out!

Sungoddess~ the lazy mom's way of shoving in the veggies....put V8 juice in things she does like. Spaghetti, lasagna, homemade soups, ravioli...

They also love anythng they can dip. Apples/yogurt, carrots/Ranch dressing, Broccoli/cheese

****
Any advice?
I have a very unique 4 year old. He will vomit if he eats anything besides pizza, fish sticks, chicken nuggets, bread, yogurt, fruits and sweets. He will absolutely not eat any "real" meat (spaghetti, hamburgers, soup, chicken, etc)

He is the only child in his class that will gag at the sight of his lunch. He will sit and stare at his plate for dinner but he refuses to eat it. He will eventually get hungry and eat some, but throws it back up.
None of his food can touch or he freaks. Nothing can break or he freaks. Like if a banana or breadstick breaks...
He is uber smart for his age. He amazes everyone he speaks to. Now he is my 3rd of 4 children, and they are all smart kids (I know every parent thinks their kids are smart) but this one will blow your mind. nod Not genius level or anything, but very gifted.
His school last year had him tested and they were shocked. He seems easily distracted and he talks constantly and very loud. I was worried maybe he was autistic?? His behavior is...ok. He has no understanding of waiting. If his mind tells him to say something, he will interrupt and say it. He becomes hyper focused and obsessed with stimulations like video games. We had to put a lock on my 13 year olds door so he could keep the video games in there to play. We cannot go by the electronics in stores or we have a nuclear meltdown. It's like he needs his crack or something. Anyway...advice?

You definitely need to take him and have him evaluated. I cannot believe a teacher has not pointed you in the right direction. You've mentioned a lot of classic symptoms of asperger's/ocd. Loud noises startle/frighten, certain textures gag, hypersensitivity to light/noises/clothing textures, obsessive behavior over one thing, etc, etc. Don't wait. Child psychologists and psychiatrists can steer kids in the right direction with help on a lot of this stuff. My son deals with just a few of these issues, so I understand what you're talking about.

Yep, it's all in his head nod He despises anything that needs to be eaten with a fork or spoon.
Because a child is sociable doesn't exclude autism or autism like behaviors. Can't think of a better way to say it other than it's a myth that children with autism are very anti-social. They can also be OVERLY sociable, ignoring the personal space of others, etc.

I don't know what it is about chicken nuggets but almost every child with autism that I know of, chicken nuggets is a favored food. How old is your son? With what you have described, I don't think it would be a bad idea to have him evaluated. The school district can do some evaluations for you but honestly I would recommend a developmental specialist. If you are in Virginia, I can recommend an awesome doctor.

My 7 yr old son has high functioning autism and my 10 yr old daughter has Asperger's. If there are any questions I can answer, please don't hesitate to pm me. hug
