I really don't think you want to try it.
It is super nasty, even the peppermint kind. There is no way to mask the smell or taste even if you mix it with other stuff....It just made me sick at both ends...
It won't make you go into labor, if it is time, it'll happen

Psst - for those of you that CVS and Wag, you might want to look for peelies on the colgate at T. They are small yellow peelies for $1 off any colgate TP (4oz or larger) and don't expire until 12/31/09 Cool

Hey Guys - can you spare some positive thoughts -

One of our dogs (a small grey & white sheltie) was stolen out of our backyard last night - I know he is a cutie and super sweet (for those who know show sheltie dogs he was one of those) but he is older & a rescue. Anyway - I take turns letting the dogs out so they each have their own time outside in the fenced yard to do their thing and also have run around time. They have plenty of outside time to play together.

Anyway - he is always the last one out in the rotation and he went out and was outside for about 45 min. When I went to get him he was NOT in the yard anywhere. The gates are all still closed there are NO holes (but he wasn't a digger anyway) and there is no way he got out and closed the gate himself.

I drove around for several hours last night hoping that some weird way he had gotten out. He has twice in the past gotten out of the garage but then he promptly comes and sits at the front door expectantly waiting to get in LOL. Anyway - I gave up at 5am and didn't find him anywhere - so I have to go to the police department (where they won't care a fig anyway) and make a report. Sigh .... please think positive thoughts!

I am going to put up posters asking for his return - keep your fingers crossed!
PT that your doggy comes home safely and soon! hug

So DH forgot the neosporin on our trip and I didn't have any q's on me. Had to stop at the evil rite aid of all places to buy one full price. He wants to know how long it will take me to forget we had to pay full price for neosporin. I'm not sure, I say a week to a month.

Just stopped in to check on a trade and did the FP print. That will be a SWEET coupon at Target.

Tastes a little like motor oil - that's why they recommend that you mix it with root beer or orange juice - but it's still disgusting. Wink

I was not dilated at all and 50% effaced at my doctor's appt - went home, drank the nastiness at 4 pm - woke up to my water broke at 1 am, had him at 6:30. Big Grin

Sooooooo worth the nastiness, at least in my case!!!!

*edit cuz I read the rest of the replies after this - it can make you sick - literally. But I didn't have any of those issues, thankfully! They say it does one of two things - nothing at all, or hard fast labor. Kind of a crap shoot, Horse (literally?!) but I was desperate enough to want to try it. Fat boy was too big for my 5'4" body to carry anymore!

Nikki, please call me if you need any help with this situation. I can grab a copy of the Childhood Autism Rating Scale and do it with you over the phone. Usually, the school psychologist at a school would administer it to the teacher and parent, compare the scores and score the responses to see if total falls within the range for Autism.

As for the feeding, this is what most behaviorists would tell you: Systematic desensitization.
First thing you do is stop placing demands on him to eat things that make him gag. Next, you slowly introduce one problem food at a time that you'd like him to tolerate, i.e. grilled chicken.
  • Step one: (Three consecutive days of no gagging) He just has to tolerate the grilled chicken on a plate in front of him (you determine how far away from him based on when he doesn't gag). You reinforce him for not gagging with praise and perhaps a special toy that he will ONLY get for "eating nicely".
  • Step two: (Again, three consecutive days of no gagging) Move the food closer, i.e. right in front of him (depending on where it started out). Again, reinforce him for not gagging. If he does gag, go back to a foot away and repeat the first step for a few more days.
  • Step three: (Two or three consecutive days of no gagging) He has to pick up the food.
  • Step four: (Two or three consecutive days of no gagging) He has to put the food to his lips (but not taste it).
  • Step five: (Two or three consecutive days of no gagging) He must open his mouth and touch it to his tongue.
  • Step six: (Two or three consecutive days of no gagging) He must put the food in his mouth, but does not have to swallow, i.e. he may spit it out. Make sure to let him know that for this step he may spit it out if he feels its necessary.
  • Step seven: (Two or three consecutive days of no gagging) He must put the food (small bites) in his mouth and swallow it without gagging.

Once he gets to step seven, you can gradually increase the AMOUNT of food that he has to eat. Every step of the way make a big deal of success, i.e. lots of praise, hugs, kisses and the special designated toy and ignore gagging. If he exhibits gagging at any step, go back to the previous step for two days.

I probably shouldn't tell you this now, but Neo is a slight MM this week at Wags with the activity book IVCs, MQs, and after RR. Hide

Best to give KQ first. Just in case your cashier won't want to scan if after your MQ (like if your total "happens" to dip below $20 Teehee).

It is tough to tell with kids at that age - they can all be pretty "unique." But that said, I agree with others in that you might want to have him evaluated. He might just have his own oddities (like all of us Wink ), but if there is more to it. It's better to know that now so you can encourage and foster his strong areas and also work on areas that he has difficulties.

Regarding the food issues, kids on the autism spectrum often have comorbid GI conditions or intolerances. Does he throw the food up because he knows he ate something that he didn't want to eat, or is there something in the food that he ate that is causing the emesis? My guess is that it is the former, since you mention that he will eat chicken nuggets, but not an actual piece of just chicken.
Girly I love the doctor talk.

Pray Pray hope you find him safe and sound!
Quote from 4BusyBees :
He memorizes everything. He is obsessed with planets right now. There order, rotation, temperature, etc. It used to me infomercials. By just looking at him socially, he seems fine. He goes regress around other children. He is 4 and 56 pounds. The largest kid in his class, but he backs down sometimes. Not always.
He is very sensitive to sound or touch. Even brushing his hair with a soft brush kills him. Just today he freaked in a public bathroom. He HATES them because the toilets are so loud. When Madelyn was tiny he would cry when she cried because of the sound.
Now he cries when she gets shots because he loves her so much heart He is different. I just can't quite put my finger on it though.
hug you got lots of good advice today. Think about having him tested, if nothing else, it may put your mind at ease. Something I told myself when ds was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. "He's the same kid today, with the diagnosis, that he was yesterday. Nothing has changed except putting a name to something that was already there"

Iagree why put yourself through stomach cramps and the runs, and then have to endure labor on top of that EEK!
