Damn, I should've waited 24 days. Could've save $0.87!!!!

The ones I received from the last FP had great welds. No problem at all.

Thumbs up that these are double pin/double locking. This should be a standard feature on all jack stands

Used it on my daily, a badass CR-V.

It can lift high enough to clear the tires off the ground.

There are a few things in life you don't want to cheap out on. Jack stands are high up on that list.

Hard pass.

You clearly misunderstood. I made no such suggestion and, in fact, said I WOULDN'T do it - all in response to a post that seemed to imply one might have been considering doing that. So the point of my post was to imply one should do exactly what you state here.
Apologies. I'd buy you a "My fault" beer if I could.

Is the weight limit for one or both?
Like should my car be under 3 tons or 6 tons?

Also my intuition tells me I'd need only one pair, lift front only or back only… so do you make sure the total weight capacity is less than half the car? Since half the car is still on the ground?
Like seriously? If you stand in one leg your weight becomes half?

I would hope the driver isn't a factor when we're talking about supporting a vehicle on jack stands...
Depends. Is someone helping you bleed the front brakes?

I got these from the last deal. One looks great, the other one the welds look a little poor with some pitting. They certainly feel sturdy though.

They are only holding up a 500# atv, so I am not too concerned, but if buying for a vehicle I'd maybe consider something else or at least confirm the welds are solid before use.

You can't bleed the brakes unless you get into the car and pump the brake pedal so yes weight of the driver is important

You don't need to be in the car to pump the breaks. Lean in and use your hands. Or stradle and just use one leg. But that depends on height.

Not quite the same analogy. If you're doing push-ups your weight is distributed along the legs and arms. Your legs would be supporting some weight not all of it.

As others have posted, the 3 tons (6000 lbs) is the weight for the pair. Most cars and small pick-ups are less than 6000 lbs. So the pair can theoretically support the entire average car. I would check the weight of your car and then determine if these are good for your use. You only need a pair to support either the entire front end or back end(assuming your car is less than 6000lbs). As an aside, if you're not working on tires or brakes, I would recommend using cribs.

I heard lots of good things about the Harbor Freight/Daytona 3-Ton Super Duty jacks [harborfreight.com], as they come with a 3 year warranty, vs. the regular 90 days for the other Daytona jacks. You just missed the After Christmas sale where they had a 15% off coupon for any Daytona jack.

Here's a good video [youtube.com] about these jack stands. The ones in the video had welds that looked markedly better than the competition. I wish I could trade my Torins for these.

Damn, $270 seems like a lot to spend for a jack from Harbor Freight. If you're willing to spend that much, there's lots of other options out there.

No kidding. Either inflation is way worse than I thought or the folks at Harbor Freight are on something.

Edit: I guess inflation is worse than I thought. I paid $100 for an Arcan XL35 at Northern Tool a few years ago. The XL35B [northerntool.com] is more than double that now.

The XL35B was also $100 [garagejournal.com] as recently as two years ago.
