If you are looking specifically for the Pokemon Center branded ETB, then you could preorder now and you'd always have the option of cancellation through your account. Otherwise, given how Fusion Strike went, you could wait and see. Pokemon Center has their printers on full blast and they've nearly caught up with demand.

Unbelievable that I am still getting "One or more fields have a validation error." errors months after month after month after month. Literally nothing fixes this.

What happened to the PayPal option?

Because of bots and scalpers they put in controls that look for browser agents that appear to be constantly or regularly scraping their website waiting for product to come in stock.

If the above doesn't apply to you try disabling uBlock Origin or add-ons like disconnect/decentraleyes. And if you don't use these START USING THEM NOW! Peace

Edit: TU OP.

Is it worth pre ordering or just wait until released in Feb?

I'm blocked too. I guess Pokemon Center doesn't like Brave browser.

I noticed if Chrome pre-fills name and address fields (credit card too) pokemoncenter doesnt see those fields as "changed," meaning "user didnt type in this field so validation fails" I dont know if thats the problem you are having but if you just click into each field and actually type something, or change the value of a dropdown for example, it will let you pass the error.
For what its worth this isnt the only site this is happening on for me, its starting to get more common. I dont know if sites are starting to use a new set of validators or something, but I have seen it happen a few times now.

My son and daughter have been trading Pokémon cards on the bus daily and now are eager to learn how to play the game. They have amassed many (hundred?) cards but are getting bored of just collecting them.
Would this set be a good way to learn the game? Is this one variation of many or all they all the same?
Any pointers at all would be immensely appreciated.

Get the Pokémon Battle Academy game. I too was like you, kids had the cards everywhere and I had no idea how to play. This game will walk you through it.

I second the Pokémon Battle Academy. For me it was also a gateway drug into the Trading Card Game Online… you get a code to import all the cards from the battle academy into your online game which is nice. There you can learn more advanced strategies which you can then pass on to the kids.

Another option is to play the pokemon online trading card game, free to play and they teach you how to battle, build decks, etc
