Not even close to full size

Just put this together. Very well built. Took about 90-mins with some breaks. Good directions, and all bags labeled very well. Comes with the riser, so although technically 3/4 size, but height is good in my opinion to play standing up. (I am 6'2" and have no complaints). I have several MAME machines (cocktail/Desktop), but none with trackball/spinner so this was a good addition for the trackball/spinner specific Atari games.

Supposively, they are working on making the spinner compatible with OPs Tempest Legacy cabinet. However, the post date of that message was 6 months ago so I don't know what's up with that.

What do you mean 'new arcade 1 ups will a trackball spinner'? Do you mean it's a good idea to upgrade the trackball in the new 1 ups?
No. The spinners on the newer arcade1up games appear to be using a trackball interface so the old spinners wont work (wont spin left)

I'm starting to wonder if I'd be happier with the new version. What I'm getting so far is it has a larger cab, better spinner, 1 more game, Lunar Lander, and wifi for leaderboards. Am I missing anything?
4 new games,wifi, android, taller but most stuff is unknown until release. The biggest issue is stretching sideways for the vertical games. I don't want to play a stretched out version of centipede or tempest. Hopefully they release a correct aspect ratio of the games or an option to set them that way.

Do you think the new 1 up spinner is better than the ThunderStick upgrade spinner?

Yeah, the wording here is really unfortunate. For Arcade1up, this is considered a 'full size unit'. It is not, however, a full size arcade cabinet like what those old timers used to drop quarters in when visiting the arcade. Again, wording... but certainly could be misleading.

That's wrong.

The spinner and board together will work on some past 1up models, but will not work on the Tempest Legacy edition. (according to youtube videos)

This is probably the best looking Arcade1Up I've seen. I'd be more interested if it also had Galaga, but it's a pretty nice start.

One deal killer for me: The screen doesn't match the aspect ratio of the game, so when you finish a stage and it 'zooms off' to the next stage, the lines don't extend to the edges of the screen. That kinda kills the cool immersion look! From watching videos, it definitely isn't even trying to match the intensity of a vector CRT either.

If anyone is in NYC, arcade1up has a popup installation at Showfields where you can play and demo a bunch of their products.

My son and I spent 2 hours there today playing Teenage mutant ninja turtles and NBA Jam.

They're cool products, but the largest cabinets are a bit cramped if you're trying to play a 4 player game like the Simpsons or TMNT.
