It's a solid deal with the batteries, but that specific model oscillating tool is really underpowered.

If you are using it for anything serious, try to watch out for the M12 fuel deal, you will pay a bit more but it is a drastic difference.

This is one of the only M12 tools I have been utterly disappointed in

I am not saying it can't get things done, trimming ply, some decent cuts, but the vibration is crazy because of the light weight (cheaper components), and the battery is notorious for vibrating out(though results vary).

The Allen key blade change is the worst part though.
If you are someone who is gonna just use it to trim up this or that or make a plunge cut into drywall once in a while and keep a multi purpose blade on it for almost everything you will do,then ya can't beat the price with the 2 batteries.

But if this a tool to go in the regular use arsenal..I would not recommend it.

I have this oscillating tool and have to hold the batteries in else they pop out every 15-20 seconds of use. Super annoying!

Nice post. Think I'm going to have to jump on it this time around. I picked up my first set of m12 tools recent and I am really liking them.

Good feedback.

The Funny Carpenter showed me where this one might come in handy with its lower speeds -- less chatter. See more here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh5u_oYrzCY

I bought this a few days ago for the $109 price and was able to contact support tonight and have a "one-time" price difference made for it, as it technically doesn't apply to "BEST BUYs" of the day (???), which seemed irrelevant. A price difference is a price difference.

Happy either way.

I was expecting to be disappointed with this tool. But I cut the ends off of two coutertops with it. That was 48 inches of 1 inch mdf.
I was surprised it performed great.

Just don't be afraid to buy other brands, as each brand has highly rated tools. Or even tools with power cables if the price is right.

I have this tool and all I can say is MEH. Even at a much higher cost the FUEL stuff is soo much better. The batteries are where the value is although it would be nice to see 3.0ah 3 cell batteries and 6.0ah 6 cell batteries. I recently did a lot of research on aftermarket batteries and found that Waitleys are actually pretty good unlike all the absolute garbage aftermarket batteries. You can get 2x 6.0ah for $40.

I had this version and returned it for the Fuel version. HUGE difference, and the quick change blade on the Fuel version cant be beat. The only other option if just getting into the game is the Dewalt 20v version, which is a beast, and it's the same price as this at $99.

Is this category of tools, e.g. oscillation, "zall", etc., useful for auto work, or is it mostly for construction and home use?
