Where were you able to find the $12 amount on your insurance information? I have Cigna and am not able to find a limit anywhere. They just say that the tests will be covered whether it is purchased in-network or out-of-network.

Also, is the $12 per test or total for 8 tests?
It is 12 dollars per test, so the 2 pack will be covered up to $24 so it should be 100% covered.

Or pay the 20 and save receipts to send in to your carrier, or eat the 20 because nothing is free
Here in NJ you can actually get at home saliva PCR tests for free by mail. Process is straightforward and easy, no upfront cost. I know it's not a rapid test, but it's more accurate. Until they get this all sorted out and we don't have to pay anything upfront, I'll stick with that. No desire to jump through hoops to try and get reimbursed.

Can you please explain the process a bit so I can replicate?
If you have Aetna they have links all over their website, and also right after logging in. You click the link, fill out the info, attach the receipt, and you're done.

Keep in mind, the pharmacy has to process them as a prescription to bill your insurance. I highly doubt any pharmacy out there is slow enough that they can prioritize something like a covid test when they've got 50+ real prescriptions due in the next hour or so, plus covid shots, swab testing, etc. I would expect them to make you come back if you want to have them process your insurance for you.

Highly recommend everyone buy them and submit for reimbursement through your insurance.
This for sure. Pharmacies are really bearing a lot of the brunt of this pandemic.

The idea is that the insurance carriers will *eventually* set up a "preferred pharmacy" network, this way it would be as easy as just showing your card at the time of purchase. But we'll see…

Fwiw, I ordered Binax tests from Walmart a couple weeks ago and they were delivered in about 2 days. The USPS deal will allegedly take up to 12 days (per the news articles today) in part because they're facing unprecedented sickouts…due to Covid.

So I would say order both ways so you can be prepared. I'm taking my Binax later today to see if it's safe to resume Wednesday night church activities. I'm pretty sure I already know the answer, but it's easier to convince others when you have evidence.

That's not how anything works in pharmacy. The pharmacy has to bill the insurance and that takes time and interrupts the work flow.

Bought 2 kits (4 samples). Can we buy 2 kits per each person in family? or is it 2 kits for primary person insured?

This is for Covid test, but the post is for anti gene kits. So it is different. Am I right?

Get 4 tests for free on the USPS website instead. These used to be $5 less, sad that in a time of need they gouge further.

Well, when insurance "pays" for it, magically the price goes up. Kind of like how if you're ever in a car accident, the first question the repair shop will ask is if there's insurance or not - they know that if there's insurance involved, the pockets are deeper - if you're paying OOP all of a sudden they have to actually be competitive.

Antigen and "lateral flow" refer to the same type of test where you swab, do some "mixing" in an ampule and put that liquid on the end of a test strip. It's a lot like a pregnancy test.
