Found this review on Amazon:
The description insists that a subscription isn't need. Technically, that is true.
In practice, you will probably need one. Without a subscription, it will record a 12 second video every 5 minutes due to motion. That won't get you very far. There is no limit with a subscription.
None of this is mentioned in the product description. Waiting 5 minutes between recording is horrible.

I think I will just pass this one.
Somewhat true. But it also has a port for a micro SD card and you can review from within the app continuous recording. Wyze has youtube video reviews of their products that are quite thorough. Check those out to see if the camera and systems are right for your needs

How much of an upgrade are these over the basic v1 cams?
The "starlight sensor" on these is seriously impressive. Works great for nighttime viewing with very little light. These are also IP65 rated for outdoor use unlike the V1 / V2.

What does the light plug into? I have the oldschool cams so I only know of one plug in spot.
Kind of messy, but it looks like they provide a splitter: https://wyze.com/media/catalog/pr...onnect.jpg

Appears that I can order up to four but when I put four in my cart it only shows two. Anyone else having this issue?

The quality at night is very good - mindblown tbh. It's able to see very well and with color when there's very little light. If you're using them indoors only then probably no need to upgrade. TBH the spotlight is cool but with the great new light sensor I don't see value in it as much except to scare people or for it to light your path at night.

Yes, but the two items are really only one kit.

Have an outdoor wyze cam, v2. Some weeks back we had really heavy rain and wind in so. ca. Camera quit working. Take it down from the top of my flagpole (great views from up there!), to find that even though the back power cover was fully sealed, there was water inside the thing! Opened it up, tried to dry out for a few days (even sprayed w. wd40), and it worked again. But now the battery is draining at about twice the normal rate from before.
Maybe your luck with weather is better than mine, but I no longer trust the "IP65" rating of the outdoor cams.

After collecting all my bricked contact sensors and getting no responses from wyze support on those, I'm looking for other security options, but that's a different story.

Any way to install them against a window for outdoor use, to avoid having to deal with running wires inside, or would the window reflect the IR back and ruin the image? And without the IR, could it work this way, or would the window still create problems with outside images?

Also, as others have asked, any way to use this as a "dumb" camera, without the SW and platform of your choice? Or is it tied to this company and their SW? If the latter, what are decent comparable low-light camera for "dumb" use?
I run a V2 behind a window. It works out well for day time. And surprisingly pretty good at night. But you have to turn off the IR. So if your wanting the v3 for the new sensor. I don't know how well it will work thru a window. The only downside I have with running mine thru a window is if the motion sensor spot light I have down the way of the house it adds a lot of glare and it doesn't work to see people except shadows. I'm hoping the v3 will have a better image as I can mount it outside and take advantage of all options such as the new sensor and the IR

💯 on not needing the spotlight bc cam's Star light makes everything look lit. It sucks not having internal storage but it depends on how you use it. I intend on having it show my stovetop so I don't need continuous motion detection.
