Thanks for the input. I have ordered a replacement roller kit for my Samsung (only about 2 years old).
Any TIPS on what to do about the thin metal that bends? Any way to shore that up when I have the unit apart?
Thanks for any reply.
Dryer's are pretty simple (it's essentially a large drum, a motor, a belt, a heater and a control panel, so it's simple to take apart and put back together. The other advantage is that you can really give the machine a good cleaning of lint and anything else that may have made it's way into the vent (eg I found some of my daughters bobby pins in there).
I could not see a simple way to reinforce the metal, as that metal piece is mounted to the back housing, and the bottom rollers are mounted where this piece isn't really mounted to anything. Maybe a piece that mounts to the back of the dryer to keep it aligned, but I just assume I'll need to take it apart every 2 years to replace a failed roller and figure it gives me an excuse to clean it and reduce the fire risk. DM me if you want more detailed info or pics.
I havent had much experience with the dryer, but my samsung washer is been rock solid without any issues since almost 6 yrs now. Thats why I thought of samsung dryer. With costco visa card, I have additional 2 yrs of warranty. Hoping that there wont be any major issues. Fingers crossed.
I will say that it's a good price (I purchased mine for the same price) especially including the warranty, although I would caution that one of the main complaints with Samsung (and Costco appliances) is service. Glad to hear about the washer, other than the scrud issue on the pulsator, the washer performs OK, although it's a top load HE and really doesn't perform as well as the old agitator styles (but that's true of all brands).
Which brand and recommended models would you say are good to purchase for a washer dryer? We are in the market and struggling to find stock and we need Front load - steam - pedestals and have liked LG and some whirlpool models. Whirlpool just cancelled my order made on their website citing back order delays. If you don't know that's fine - you seemed knowledgeable so hoping you may have a good idea.
This Samsung dryer deal they only had one floor model at Costco and said they can't find it anyhow here in GA
Buying any appliance the current market will be difficult due to the supply chain issues. Personally I've had good luck with Whirlpool, as I owned 2 of them prior to the current Samsung and the only issues was that they got old and the drums eventually started to rust after 12+ years. Yale Appliances does a blog with repair stats, an interestingly rates LG highest and Samsung front-loaders second, which surprises me on both fronts: https://blog.yaleappliance.com/mo...ad-washers
Samsung dryers also have a history of burning up heater elements. Out of warranty costs would have been $400.00. Part was $11.00 at that time. Did it myself, but it was not easy.
I really hope my old GE electric dryer would died (17 years) so I can buy a samsung.
GE has never been broken or repair , suprise the belt would last a long time.
I used it ateast 5 times a week. Costco price has the best price for low end model.
You better keep it. My dryer is probably 20 years old and I thought about getting another one but it won't die. Every year a pretty young sexy dryer starts eye balling me but why break my vowes for a one year stand before she quits on me when the one at home may not be as sexy but has been there for me for years and ain't going anywhere. If it ain't broke, don't replace it.

Why would you even consider a Samsung while in the same sentence you're complaining your GE has lasted 17 years and still going?
Are you being sarcastic?

LG has a bunch of highly rated combo sets according to Consumer Reports, that swayed me towards purchasing an LG combo. If you search on slickdeals you'll see LG sets go on sale semi frequently brand new at Costco.
Depending on your area I'd check your local Lowes, a lot of them in my area have been running some big clearance on appliances. I scored the washer with a smell dent for $250. It was a rose gold edition so it was harder to find, but I found the matching dryer from a Best Buy outlet and got that for $430 with a couple scratches on the side. Honestly for $680 for the set I'm okay with a few scratches as they're all on the sides of the units and I'm never going to see unless I move them, and I can't beat a deal for 30% retail price.
I've had a previous Samsung washer and dryer with zero issues and moving into a new home. Wondering why you mention this. Bad customer service or bad machine?
I have two Samsung electric dryers and they are terrible. Also most appliance repairs companies are not versed on Samsung dryer repairs so they charge significantly more than almost any other make. Our dryers both started over heating within a month apart after 4 years.
Bought a similar model 2 years ago, has hairline cracks inside the drum. Repair tech said it was likely due to switching between dry heat & the steam function.

I gave up chasing consumer models and bought a pair of Speed Queens. But you could also go with the Maytag Commercial. While they may not appear a "slick deal" if they last 3-4x as long with limited hassle, it is a win to me.

Personally I just upgraded to this combo with a gas dryer, https://www.lg.com/us/washers/lg-wm4000hba-front-load-washer [lg.com]

Samsung is rated the worst appliance brand.
