Be forewarned! I bought this unit weeks ago from Walmart. Had a problem and contacted Hisense about it since Walmart was out of stock. Hisense refused any kind of warranty claim by saying that Walmart is NOT an authorized dealer of their products, only Lowes and Costco are valid retailers. Be aware of this glitch!

I'm so sorry that I misunderstood your original comment. I thought it was directed at me rather than for me. I apologize. Hisense flatly refused to honor any part of their posted warranty due to an "unauthorized retailer" purchase. You know, I'll never give Hisense my business again for anything they market.

I was the OP for this deal the first time when it was posted on SD few days back. @gbarr Sorry to hear the unit didn't work out and Hisense is not honoring warranty. I believe you should be able to return it to walmart saying warranty is not being honored. I got one of these a week ago and gave it a try. So far it is working well in a few mins trial.

On a different note, I had a need to order one more and came across this. It seems this single hose LG is better than any other including Hisense dual hose. I ordered this with 4 yr coverage from walmart as it is refurb.

Fortunately, I was able to return for refund at Walmart. Hisense rep told me that Walmart can certainly sell their product but since they aren't an authorized retailer, the Warranty doesn't exist. I don't understand how a company refuses warranty on an item that they made, based solely on who sells it. Hisense lost any business from me forever.

Got this from lowes around 2 years ago. It broke a little after more than a year. It would work fine for around a minute or two, then would make a grumbling noise and shakes then cold air turns off and only the fan is on. Called hisense and they replaced it, so far so good.

theres ways to deal with shitty companies that do things like that. if its not something tracked by s/n just buy a new one and return the old one.

Thanks for the link to the Factory Refurbished LG AC as I just bought that one after doing some review checks on the unit. For $255 I ended up also adding the 4 year protection plan and my total with the 4 year protection plan, the AC and tax was like only $322. This unit shows to be like $700 brand new and being it is factory refurbished by LG I am feeling good about the buy. Thanks again Smilie

I read Comments about dual hose model is better from the last post. I have no clue but is this LG model single hose better referring to performance or brand/service? Thanks!

Is this really better than a dual hose unit? I am currently planning on getting this unit but if the LG is just as good for half the price I don't see why I wouldn't go with the LG unit.

If this was FREE it would be a terrible "deal". Expect a $150-200/month increase in your electricity bill. Find a friend that is handy and do yourself a favor and get a mini-split. 12k and 18k btu complete kits with heat are found for $500-700 all the time via SD.

Dual hose is way more efficient as it sucks in outdoor air to cool the hot condenser coil and blows it outside. There is theoretically no "negative pressure" created by the machine. A single hose box uses conditioned in-house air to blow over the hot condenser coil and sends it out via the single exhaust tube. This creates a negative pressure situation where hot humid air is drawn INto the house. Sales of single-hose units should be banned. The most efficient portable units are the old-skool window units. All of the hot action is kept outdoors. No negative pressure is created.
