This is with bestbuy, so no bill credit involved, it's instant trade in value that deducts from the sale price, and tax is on the deducted selling price too. Don't mislead others.

ATT is $100 cheaper further. $500 for mini and $600 for regular. But trade in values are horrible.

T-Mo is still the best in value overall.

I keep hearing different answers. How can I get this unlocked then? I use T-Mobile services, but I like an easy option to get it unlocked as needed.
Contact tforce on twitter or fb messenger. Tell them you bought it at Best Buy and paid in full.

Yes. Apple servers have to see some type of life on that iPhone

It's like if you check how much warranty your 13 has, once you input the inactive iPhone 13 serial number, it will tell you to activate the device.

A lot of us did it with inactive ATT SIM cards and requested the unlock via the ATT portal. I would NOT suggest that method since a few have mentioned it no longer works.

I have unlocked with T-Mobile and ATT inactive SIM card. I will not do the ATT method with the 13 mini that I ordered recently. Too risky

For those of you who were upgrading iPhones, were you allowed to transfer your old phone to the new one?

The reason why I ask is because Google Authenticator doesn't transfer through an iCloud backup restore.

I can setup my phone by myself no problem. I really don't want to pay the $40 for them to do it.
You can transfer Google authenticator to another phone/iPad/Android tablet, then use that device to transfer it to your new iPhone. Google authenticator will work on both the devices (works for me on both of my Android phones)

Thanks for the info. This was the route, I was leaning towards to be honest.

You can also try active Verizon sim and then pay few bucks in Fleabay to get it unlocked right away or wait 60days for it to happen automatically, all depends how much risk you're willing to take.

I would like to echo your experience, I had two, sold one as is, think I might trade the other back to Best Buy for a $600 gift card. Something has definitely changed though.
Can I jusr ask why are you not using an Active Att sim line using a inactive doesn't sound appropriate..not saying your wrong that it's not working anymore but I feel for proper activation it should be a current active postpaid sim even if paid off...

Is att method using a valid active postpaid sim still bad idea? If not why? The issue with using an inactive sim is it will never register properly on att system. Atleast using a postpaid sim when you calp customer care they can see your imei, using inactive sim with no service how do you expect support from ATT to unlock? Just saying atleast if I have postpaid service with att I can request them to update imei and or unlock ? They do sometimes manually submit ticket to unlock, but without service how you can get that support ? Just my thoughts..

I have a Galaxy S21+ 256Gb on T-Mobile EIP. IIRC I can trade in a phone on EIP.

My issue is that when you select 256Gb capacity for the trade-in, it won't give T-Mobile as a carrier option. There is T-Mobile for the 128Gb version though.

Does anyone know if I can select 128Gb for the trade-in online, but actually bring my 256Gb phone to the store?

My suggestion is to invest 7 bucks for a Rsim just to be handy in case you can not have the phone unlocked right away. I've had no problem requesting unlock from Tmobile, I also find it is useful using rsim to unlock all iphones for example total wireless XR, 11, SE2 etc.

Happy to answer, I'm not a AT&T customer, but the portal was the easiest way to unlock of all the carriers, worked easily until recently. I was reselling and I know I was pushing limits, that being said it worked fine and no longer does. It would no longer be a method I would recommend and just trying save others the issues since at times it still seems to be suggested.

got you. So when you activated, it was immediately unlockable via the ATT portal? same day?did you ever check any GSX report for that, and the warranty / activation date showed when you did using the inactivated SIM?
