I really hope sigma is successful with this. My sd14 still outperforms my R5 on landscapes

How does this compare with the Sony a7iii?
This is a photo camera, not a hybrid. If you have no interest in video and you have experience and or like manual control then this can be a performer. Otherwise it has trash autofocus and for anything video, other than maybe in a studio environment, there are many better options.

an engineering miracle: a full frame camera that's smaller than the smallest MFT.
make you wonder what Olympus and pansonic could have done.

Couldn't have been smaller than my MFT Lumix GM1 - that thing was literally smaller than a Sony RX100 point-and-shoot without lens.
Yeah, it's small, but not THAT small. The Sony A7C is a reasonable comparison in terms of size - both full frame cameras.

It doesn't. Two different beasts. I think if you have to ask, then you should get the sony instead.

a7iii is treated as a high-end hybrid shooter. Easy to use, fast auto focus, more battery life, able to use slower cards (ish).

sigma fp is treated as "low end" cinema camera. More incamera settings, slow auto focus, less battery life by itself, difficult to use without accessories.

a7iii max bitrate is 100 mbps while the sigma fp can go up to 2500 mbps. You need external ssd (1tb per hour).

I disagree. This camera is most definitely used for video. It can record at VERY high bit rates, too.

In a studio on a tripod, absolutely. Not run and gun vlogs like people use the a7iii for.

It is advertised as a hybrid camera. It is definitely NOT photo oriented as it has slow auto focus and small megapixels count. I think there might be a few who like to use this as b cam for their higher end cinema camera.

Vlog are usually fast and easy edit. Might as well buy an iPhone and a selfies stick at this price. Smaller sensor makes everything in focus. Edit on the phone, upload the video and save the finish version on a usbc stick.

They are also selling a kit with the 45mm lens and an Atomos Ninja V for $1,899. That's only $300 for the Ninja V (if the Peak strap and SD card of the posted kit have no value to you).

That's a smokin deal because I paid $550 for my Ninja V from someone. If you sell off the Ninja V, you'll bring it down to ~$1300. IMO, the Ninja V is kinda pointless with the Sigma fp because the fp can record ProRes Raw, etc and you can have the fp record directly to an SSD. The reason I got a Ninja V was to be able to record directly to an SSD and record in ProResRaw to edit in Final Cut Pro X since my Fujifilm lacks those features.

Also on sale for the same price at B&H Photo: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...amera.html

EDIT: Whoops! Sorry. The B&H deal does NOT include the accessories kit! (probably worth about $100?)

Love how this camera can be used as a webcam plug and play. My colleagues are blown away by my video quality when we do Teams meetings.

Love it. Just got the Sigma 150-600mm Sport for the fp! Sometimes I miss having a viewfinder. The new attachment looks interesting.
Same here, I found the 150-600mm for $1167 for sale somewhere so I had to jump on it. Now waiting for a deal on the evf-11 viewfinder. Will try to use this for wildlife photography. I previously had the Sigma 100-400mm but its not enough reach.

Wow that is a great deal for the lens! If you don't mind, which store had it on sale at that price?

I bought the magnifying viewfinder for that retro feel but have yet to use it with the tele. Still have to get better at tracking moving subjects at 600mm. I think the EVF would be more convenient being on the side than adding more length to the setup

Here you go! They just shipped mine and it arrives tuesday.

Yeah tracking can be a problem. L mount bodies doesn't have the best autofocus but I'm willing to give it a shot.
