Oh man, I loved Red Alert. One of the best games in that style of RTS, IMO. I might have to get it.

Steam shows reviews as "Very Positive", I think I saw one bad review among dozens of good ones. Probably a no brainer if you loved either of the originals.

Looks like the Steam Lunar Sale that just went live has it too, if you want to by it directly and not have to take extra step to redeem code on Steam.

First I've seen it on Steam through Amazon. Isn't it normally offered through Origin?

Game has been around this price for a while now. Haven't pulled the trigger because the reviews weren't that great
That's weird... I remember reading reviews where people were really happy with how they handled the remaster.

This collection is included if you have an EA play/Xbox Game Pass sub. Been fun playing RA again after many years.

God bless this game.
Also to the dude who was talking about modem matches, I feel your pain. It took a long time just to be able to properly setup a match, let alone get a good battle going, and then rekt with a phone call.

and to dude above me dr. pol, there was a free red alert multiplayer around for a long time, not sure if it's still there but probably. When I tried it, people are so friggin good you last like 10seconds. If they added some n00b matchmaker mode that would be better.

I bought this hoping to recapture some of the joy I got out of the original when it came out (not sure I ever played Red Alert).

Sadly, I just...couldn't. This is just one of those games (maybe it's a genre thing actually) where you just can't go back, because the mechanics were SO bad back then. Sure, they can put lipstick on it and make it look decent in 2022, but, unless you do a remake (which I would TOTALLY buy), the old school (read "bad") mechanics and cludginess is still there.

I should try Red Alert since that came out later...hopefully that will be better!

Note that I have not too long ago re-played (and loved) ancient point and click adventure games, as well as Fallout 1 and 2. Even Jagged Alliance. But this one I think is just a little too early to be salvaged by a mere remastering.

Kinda like the original X-Com. I tried so hard to play that again in the past several years, but just...no. Big Grin
