I second this. Unless you're using these for cold storage (in which case, go shuck a 18tb drive), then avoid the QVO series. The TBW lifespan is appalling (half) compared to the EVO series and the price difference is typically nominal.

There's no 8TB EVO as far as I can tell. And not everyone needs these for performance

QVO drives seemed to have good reviews everywhere too, do you have the TBW numbers?

it's just more chicken little stuff - for comparison the flagship Samsung 840 PRO claimed a whopping endurance of up to 73 TBW, and few have even approached that Roll Eyes (Sarcastic).

How much faster are m2 drives?

I have a 2tb and a 1tb m2. I use the 1tb for photos and video and appreciate speed over regular HD in Lightroom but my 1 tb is full so trying to decide on switching it to a 2 or adding this 4

I wish they made the 8TB in EVO version. I also wish that 8TB Evo would sell for about...$250 lol a guy can dream.

There's a good comparison table here [dongknows.com]. for the 1tb, the QVO 870's lifespan is 360 tbw, the EVO 870's lifespan is is 600TBW, and the pevious gen, the 860 EVO is also 600 TBW. Looks like the trend holds that the QVO's have about 60% of the lifespan of the EVOs across all models. If you've actively moving a lot of data, or want a piece of hardware that cn be reused into future builds, its something to consider.

Also based on the higher TBW, I find myself buying bestbuy refurb EVO drives as the best deal, they're usually marked down like 50% and i've never gotten one with more than 10 TBW written

I would never buy a QLC NAND SSD (at least for OS), my TLC Crucial MX500 just corrupted and became unbootable (Inaccessible boot device BSOD) after less than 1 year of use. MLC or nothing for me.

Darn. Not able to use code for the 1TB 870 SSD so maybe that code expired for that product?
