the one thing about ultra short throw is that they are ideally projected on a perfectly flat surface. Any waves in your screen or wall or sheet or whatever your projecting on will be very magnified because of the extreme angle of incident. In my opinion, ultra short throws work best with fixed projection screens, a smooth flat wall, or possibly a drop screen that is tab tensioned and not inexpensive pulldown screens or a fabric sheet or wavy sheetrock/plaster even wall texture could be trouble.
I have a 77" OLED and a 120" UST.

No one cares about the OLED after they see the projector.

Have anyone noticed P2 showing significant rainbow effects upon watching high speed moving objects?

You will have to pay for return shipping if sending it back. Also, I don't see extended warranty option.. where do you see it? I'm not sure this one will even have 1 year manufacturer warranty.
I believe it is this guy: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...ranty.html

And you should only have to pay for return shipping if you just decide you don't like it/don't want it. They should cover shipping if there is a problem with the device. I have never had issue with B&H, but I also have never had to return anything. Unfortunately it looks like someone already grabbed that used like new one.

It depends on how much light you have in the room. ALR just rejects lights from certain angles so ambient light doesent interefere with the projectors image from standard viewing angles.

If you are happy with the brightness of your current set up, you will likely be fine with a non ARL screen.

I have a non ARL screen and am quite happy as my room has only 1 window and ambient light is easily controlled. I ceiling mounted my UST projector to keep kids from bumping it. UST cant use standard ALR screens if ceiling mounted since the projector is shining from above.
can you invert the alr screen then....?

Agreed. I have Vava UST projecting on 120 ALR fixed screen. The wall isnt flat, resulting in screen bleed.

It is not a good idea to invert the ALR screen if you have ceiling lights and plan to watch with lights ON. It doesn't solve the whole purpose of using ALR/CLR screens to watch content with ambient/ceiling light.

No. The minimum and maximum distance is measured in inches. Too lazy to find a manual but its probably somewhere min = 12 inches, max = 18. Np way to adjust focus to be similar to a traditional projector

Holy crap is the picture on this amazing. I picked up from Best Buy in case I need to return it.

So…I'm playing Madden and god is the lag atrocious. Game mode is on and I'm feeling like I'm controlling with a remote stuck in mud. Any suggestions to make this even remotely palatable?

Get the Epson LS500 instead? There's nothing you can do to improve the P2.

I got the P2 mainly to see if the projector route is the way I want to go. I received mine today from Amazon and set it up in my theater. I'm really impressed by the picture quality, and thats without a screen! I have it projecting a 120" image, which is perfect for my space, and it's amazing. This has definitely made me 100% sure I want to go with a projector. The only downside is that it really needs to be quite far from the wall for a 120" image, further than expected.

I'll be returning the P2 and patiently wait for an HDMI 2.1 UST with lower input lag for gaming. If you're just getting a projector for movies/TV, this thing is legit!

That says nothing of the projector quality. All that does is reaffirm what has been proven time after time; people are generally drawn to size, over anything else, and think bigger is better. There's no way your projector actually compares to your OLED.

Most people on this thread are already looking at or have projectors, so I'm not surprised at all the downvotes.
I have both and the OLED is fantastic for watching movies with the family or gaming. When I have guests over, we always use the projector. The picture quality and blacks are significantly less on the projector but we do get a movie theater experience.
Others mentioned gaming, unless you are playing very casual games, projectors are not good for gaming, the latency is bad and the huge screen requires you to scan a lot more which causes eye fatigue

I saw that 3D is an option on this which is very cool as I have a 50 plus collection of Blu-ray. How is this for everyday use. Like watch news on you tube at peak brightness is a a bright room?

Not ready to buy yet but loving the fact these are coming down in price and are gaining more traction. Absolutely would get one of these UST units when I need to replace my current 4k projector.

IOne final thing to consider. USTs are still fairly niche and therefore there isn't a lot of options out there for furniture, especially if you combine with a surround sound system center speaker. A center speaker can be placed behind the projector at a higher elevation, but to do so you'll require one of the following:
-UST specific furniture ($$$$)
-custom build furniture
-multiple pieces of furniture
-projector on the floor

I use a taller, shallow stand against the wall for my center and a shorter stand for my avr and projector. It works great and looks fine, but it was far from an "out of the box" solution.
I bought two Lack stands from Ikea ($70 each I think??) and have been pretty happy with them...If I would have used just one, there was a 12" gap between the stand and the wall...

Also have two of the Besta 23" x 15" cabinets on either side...

I got the 100" VAVA ALR screen from best buy for $650 and have been very happy with it...I did try a 120" non ALR screen and the image was washed out during the day (but was pretty awesome at night)....

I had an 80" Vizio before this and will probably never go back to a traditional TV in my living room....
