Just FYI for anyone with older wiring, this requires a neutral wire and the box to be properly grounded.
I have several kasa switches and plugs, never failed or giving me any issue. But really wish they have something that uses zwave or zigbee so they don't congest my wifi.
Always goes on sale for this price. Good switch tho.

I like the idea of TP-Link stuff, but they were disconnecting all the time in Home Assistant. But if you're just using the app, it probably works fine

I run a separate wifi network for IoT stuff, on another channel, with an old router I have set up as an access point.

Same here - works great with my TP-Link products and several other WiFi based smart devices. I disabled the 2.4 Ghz band on my other multiband access points.

Never have an issue with them, never have to re-add them. I have 6+ standard switch and another 6+ dimmers. For the dimmers, I can tell Alexa to dim the lights in "Room x" by saying "Alexa change [switch name] to 25%".

They can be associated to dusk and dawn so that your outdoor lights turn on at dusk and turn off at dawn.

These can also be grouped so that you can group and turn off all the lights upstairs for example.
Can a dusk/dawn offset be given so that a light goes on say 30 min before dusk and turns off 25 min after dawn?

Yes the deal is dead for the single. The three pack is still live.

This seems like a good deal. However, I am not confident enough in my electrician-skills to install one of these. Is anyone aware of battery-powered switches or dimmers that are battery-powered and wireless? I believe Philips has one, but I am surprised how rarely I have seen them. Anyway, if someone could identify some for me, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I have dozens of these in Home Assistant working reliably. Maybe something on your end?

I don't know. I tried assigning dedicated IPs and looked for all solutions with home assistant. Ended up setting these aside for ZigBee plugs

Have you ever installed say a light fixture or fan? If so you can do it. Very simple.

To add on to this outstanding comment. Lutron does make products that don't require the neutral wire (great for older homes) but they are pricey. For our 1962 house, I am going with smart led bulbs first and see how they work. I can control them thru an app or Alexa or Google.

Kasas really have any other smart switches beat in their price range. One thing I will mention is that I have had lots of issues setting up kasas with 3 way wiring (two switches to the same light), and don't get me started with 4 way wiring…

I'm pretty sure these are single pole no 3 way only though. For single pole, kasas are great. I just wish how much trouble kasas ended up being with my 3 way circuits before installing the single poles, since I wanted all the same brand to look better asthetically.

Also, as others have mentioned, doesn't work without a neutral, but that is the case for lots of other smart switches too with a few exceptions.

Edit: another thing I thought of to note too, the 3 way dimmers just came out and I have one pair on the way, though it seems they're generally kind of hard to get. But from what I've read, they can only be used together, as the satellite switch is missing a neutral or hot wire or something (I forget exactly). I'm not expecting these to be easy to set up either.

I don't believe you can do that on their app, but if you have Alexa I know you are able to do it through that using the Alexa routines, and will also actually follow the sunrise/sunset times for that day, which constantly drift by like a minute or so each day. And can also do however many months you want before or after the given sunrise/sunset time for that day.
