I don't own either, but what I do decide to pull the trigger, I'm fairly certain I'll be going with Z Grills
Agreed i bought a 3yr old used Grilla Silverbac. Runs like a champ and support if you have questions is fantastic. It's also thick stainless steel... cheaper models like the one in the post may not maintain temps without blanket in colder weather.

I'll personally be going with the new version of the Weber SmokeFire.
The Z-Grill had a bit more assembly than the Traeger. It is high quality, heavy gauge powder coated steel. It comes with everything you need - mine came with a cover and a bag of pellets. The coating on the grate was damaged on arrival due to some rubbing during shipping. I emailed and they shipped me new grates two-day shipping without any fuss. The customer service is excellent as well.
The Traeger is heavier gauge steel and is even higher quality and simpler assembly. I had to buy the accessories separately. So keep in mind, that the cover, shelf, and other accessories add to the overall cost.
This is a great grill for the price. If I hadn't got the Traeger as a gift, I would happily purchase another one of these. The Traeger is an excellent grill, I would say it is better. However, like everyone here, I am a bargain shopper, and I don't see the need to pay twice the price for a the marginally better grill. I'd rather have two of these.
Bonus - The Green Mountain Grill pizza oven fits in this perfectly and is a 'must-have'
I have the ZGrills 700D. I use it a lot because its easy and it allows me to smoke way more often than I used to on the wood fired. I do prefer the smoke of real wood over pellets, but this allows you to cook way more often due to convenience. Just push buttons and go to bed. Wake up rested, check food with coffee in hand. I would say pellet smokers are 90% of the flavor (slightly different flavor) for 10% of the work. Worth it for many.
I have had my ZGrills 700D for several years and it performs well. It is heavier gauge steel than many of the other cheap pellet smokers especially in this price range.
My ZGrills sits outside every day and it is still in great shape. I would recommend for anyone who is not hard core about smoking and wants something that works, is built well enough for the job and is very cost effective.
As far as adding more smoke, I have the smoke tubes and I do not like the bitter smoke they add as they smolder. I either add real wood chunks on top of the metal pan under the grate or simply turn down the temp for several hours on long cooks to cause more low temp smoke before going back up to 225.
I add two smoke tubes at times. It makes a huge difference adding a smoke tube or two vs just the smoker itself. I think everyone should have a tube or two in their arsenal!
