This is the new light switch released last year which adds the motion sensor, I think this is the best price ever.

Honestly it's just fanciness. Your motion detector doesn't need to be smart, as you are saying. Your making me re-evaluat if I want to buy it lol!
52 on my network for a bit over a year. Mix between switches and bulbs as well with not a single issue
My understanding is it's typically the lights that aren't dimmable or incompatible. Not an expert but you may try a different strip. I've had can lights that do that and I fixed w new dimmable bulbs so maybe the strips are the same

However, a door sensor would be even easier and more reliable.
If not, any similar alternatives?
I have 4 Kasa switches and they work flawlessly.

I have various Kasa Wifi products - some, pretty far, at the far end of the garage - no issues. If you wifi isn't strong to reach them, that could be the issue
