On a hardware level, definitely. The value proposition with Hue products though is more about the software, ecosystem, and wide compatibility and ease of integration with other smart home/home automation systems. Not saying it's a good value, just that the value equation is different.

I've done both hue and a long run of DIY light strips, def a big quality difference.
Are they overpriced? Yes, but they also last way longer. My DIY setup started to have issues within a year.
Your hue bridge will control this lightstrip just fine. Certain features aren't available if you have an older, round shaped hue bridge.
