I see people only care about the trade in value of the old phone, but the real catch here is the 36 months lock in service with AT&T.

The cheapest monthly fee is 4GB plan which costs $50/month + tax and all applicable fees, the total will be around $65 per month. For entire 3 years of period you will be paying AT&T about $2340 in total. And you have to aware that this new phone will decrese its value in 3 years, most Samsung phones will decrese its value by almost half in just a year. But the AT&T monthly fee will not decrease along with the phone value.
These "deals" do not make any sense. You can buy the phone unlocked directly from samsung.com. Charge the purchase to a credit card that offers no interest financing for 12-months (or 18 if you have a really good card). You can pay for wireless service on a pre-paid plan from AT&T (they have a $300 upfront annual payment for 8GB of data per month). With tax that averages to about $25-$27 a month for your phone service. Over the course of three years you actually save yourself about $800 buying it unlocked (and you save even more if you DO have a phone to trade-in with Samsung).

I think that's the best deal of all the major carriers. You can get an old S for under $50 and get an $800 credit for it.

The downside is you are locked in for 36 months. If you cancel your plan during that time you lose the remaining credits

Yeah, pretty much the same with all carriers. How often are people changing carriers? If you change often this isn't for you. Otherwise at&t isn't just going to give everyone $800 off a phone for nothing in return.

I pay $150 flat for unlimited 3 lines and I totally feel like I just shouldn't fark w/ it. Does this come with any additional fees if you're on base unlimited? Also I just remembered I never got my gift card from months ago. And now I just Googled and there is a new class action filed for that exact thing.

I really hate that carriers went to 36 month payments. We used to give Canada crap when their carriers had 3 year contracts... but I get it, Im still using my S10+ (its the longest I have had a phone for in my life). Just sucks that I risk losing that money if I want a new phone (on payments) or want to change carriers in the next 3 years. A lot can happen in 3 years.

Also just went down to the basement and grabbed my S II and S II Skyrocket that I will be trading in to get my wife and I new S22's. Wife always complains that I'm a tech hoarder, well it just saved me $1,600...

Looks like my Pixel 3 gets the $800 credit. Maybe it's time for an upgrade.

Too bad, Visible was giving out the e6 free last year. I have two in my kitty.
