Bought this last time around (except with 1440p 120hz screen) but as an open box for $1150. It's a great pc, runs warm pretty much all the time but that's expected with everything under the hood in its small profile. It's completely replaced using my desktop for music production and I highly recommend it at this price or even better, if u find an open box

Had the first gen first batch with QC issues, considered getting the second gen, and then I saw the upcoming gen. Folks, the new one is going to be pretty significant in the upgrades. If you don't need it now, and if your budget allows, you might hold out for the second. A few of the uplifts: 6800S GPU (should be somewhere between 3070 lower wattage and 3080 lower wattage), 6900HS (as expected gen to gen), 100W USB-C charging, 16:10 resolution, DDR5 mem, improved cooling, and a webcam. Pretty significant strides. Like I said, if you have the time to wait and the budget to allow. Otherwise this is still a fine deal.

There's one in open-box: excellent condition for $1161 and $1136 at my store. Going to check them out tomorrow. Thanks. Any issues ?

I just bought this laptop. I ve been using for 10 days. It is heating up so fast. Performance is good for 14" small case under my expectations. Gpu is limited with 60w-80w(dynamic boost), that's why you can't take real 3060 performance. If you wanna bring it wherever you want, that can be good choice. It is like powerful machine is going everywhere with you. But if you use in your home or desk, you should consider other laptops. Maybe you can pay more $300 for other laptops.

I missed this one last time and ended up getting the M15 with the 240hz screen, also for music production, and absolutely love it, especially compared to my dell I had before. Great machines for gaming as well, and I've been able to do 3d rendering on top of that.

I noticed this model doesn't have a webcam. I plan on gifting this for my son for school and light/medium gaming (Valorant, etc). So does the lack of a webcam matter?

I personally prefer one without but didn't know if this is a deal-breaker for a "gamer" type of setup.

I mean I had no issues with it, but you might need to buy a little webcam for your son if your school needs him to turn on his camera. It really doesn't matter tbh it's just a little thing people want on it, plus cause it's COVID and it would be nice to have one, which the 2022 model of this laptop will have a webcam.

14" is TINY.
Unless you really need to pack that into 14", you are probably better off with a non discrete GPU version or go bigger and give that GPU room to breathe.

The lack of a webcam for school isn't a big deal because USB webcams are higher quality to begin with. It's a total dealbreaker for me though since I travel a lot and Zoom constantly. I'd rather have the lower quality webcam built in than have to pack a separate USB device. If you don't need to Zoom on the go, the lack of a webcam doesn't really matter.

Personally, I wouldn't get a mobility laptop without a webcam. Sure, there are workarounds but in this day and age, I'd rather have it built in simply bc when I'm videoconferencing I'm often doing something like texting on my phone. This was something I found utterly strange about these laptops, that Asus would save the few bucks to leave out a component that has become standard on laptops. I would wait for the 2022 model which will have it.
