Well, the current price of the bare tool is $129, battery is $99, and charger is $35.

$129+$99+$35=$263 The math checks out.

Solid homeowner choice at this price. I think it's been this price pretty regularly since the holidays. In fact it was re-posted 20 days ago. Regardless, for those that are interested:

Real-world torque on this is about 240 ft-lbs. That's plenty for things like lug nuts and removing mower blades. You can't do drivetrain or heavy construction work with it, but if you do that kind of work, you know that already.

This guy tests the P261 and the new brushless P262 for real-world torque on his YT channel.

P261 test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWeguH-2UJA

P262 test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpxHkkzxeUE

Thorough reviews and scientific measurements with all the technical info (e.g. battery types) and real-world results.

TL;DR: The P262 brushless is more than twice as powerful, achieving 91% of claimed torque vs. 81% test achievement on the P261.

It worked perfectly on my suburban lug nuts(140ft-lbs) no more then one second to lose them. Ordered one when last op.

300 ft/lb torque, NOT brushless. List price is very misleading. Okay deal if you needed the battery and charger.
What are you torquing over 300 ftlbs?

The last blemished item I bought from DTO was a Hedge Trimmer. It caught fire within 2 minutes. Like actual smoke and melting plastic.
I got a Ryobi vacuum from them that wasn't sucking anything, but just sucking! Not only wasn't pulling anything, but battery life lasted for 3 minutes. Had to send it back. Rather pay a little more and get new.

The average lug nut should be tightened to roughly 100 ft-lbs, so even allowing for some stuckness this tool at 300 ft-lbs should handle them no problem. One caveat... not all impact wrenches provide the same torque in both directions, but I assume this one does.

Also something like this [harborfreight.com] can be used to install lug nuts. I recommend you err on the low side and tighten by hand.
Not sure if this is what you were saying, but to be sure, you would never want to put a lug nut on with this, you would only want to take a lug nut off with it. It's the breakaway/loosening torque that matters in this use case and this has plenty of it for lug nut removal. You need to be using a torque wrench to put the lug nut on, not an impact wrench like this.

Using this instead of a torque wrench would result in over-tightened lug nuts which can cause warped brake rotors. Not to mention the increased difficulty with changing a flat tire on the side of the road with only the tools in your spare tire kit.

For $50 more the Ridgid octane equivalent seems to be better if you're already in the Ridgid line.

You must have missed the bit about using a torque extension bar. I screw in my lug nuts by hand as far as they will go, then drive them further with an 80 torque extension on my impact wrench, then apply a final tug to get them to the recommended 90.

My bad. I didn't click on the HF link. Would have connected the dots if I did. Interesting product. Didn't know they had those.

I've been using this wrench for several years. Bought this exact kit for $70 bucks from HD. It's been my go to tool for wheel rotations and general maintenance. Never let me down and always had more than enough power to loosen VW wheel bolts that somehow always are a pain in the a$$ to remove.

If you turn the speed down on this tool it is perfect for installing lug nuts. Hand thread one or two turns then lightly tighten with the impact. Follow up with a torque wrench to finish tightening the lugs.

Seems like a good deal for the price. But it probably won't be able to handle every fastener on the typical car, even less so on older ones with rusted and seized fasteners. But for $100 you can't really complain about that, or its being brushed. But if you expect to do more serious auto work, e.g. remove axle nut, crank bolt, suspension, etc., and can swing it, you'd be better served spending a bit more for a brushless mid-torque wrench in the 400-500ft-lb range.

Or, check out this deal and consider getting the Milwaukee M12 Fuel brushless stubby 3/8" impact, which is about the best all-around impact wrench made these days, for $26 more, but for the tool only. If you already have M12 tools then you should be set, otherwise it's going to cost you for batteries and a charger. You can search the site for other deals that include this wrench.

Btw this Ryobi looks a lot like my old Craftsman C3 1/2" impact wrench. Any chance both are made by the same company?

Yeah, it's confusing initially.

Drill
: Adjustable chuck, mainly for drilling, takes round bits (but can use hex bits)

Impact Driver: 1/4" hex chuck, mainly for driving bolts & screws into wood, takes 1/4" hex bits

Impact Wrench: 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" & higher square anvil, mainly for breaking hex nuts & bolts on vehicles, takes sockets

There's some overlap, but each is intended for specific uses. There's also cordless ratchets, of which there's an impact variety, and right angle drills. Also cordless screwdrivers, which are basically non-impact drivers for low-torque uses like assembling shelves, building PCs, installing hardware, etc.

I have one of these and use it for lug nuts torqued to 130 ft lbs and control arm bolts torqued to 200 ft lbs on my JL Wrangler. It's just alright, gets the job done on the cheap. Good deal with the battery.

What do you mean by "just alright?" If it loosens your 200lb torqued bolts what else do you expect? There arent many bolts torqued that high on most cars.
