Pretty good price. My store has had an abundance of inventory on this for months so I knew it was only a matter of time. I will keep an eye on inventory levels to see if this is selling and if not I will hold off for a better price drop.

Is the "led cut line" the same as the shadow line from dewalt?

If so,this is cheaper than the HF hercules with all the same features

The led cut line is a laser line that works the same as a shadow line.

There is a white LED that shines on the blade and the shadow of the blade is the "line". I bought this and put it on a "blem" stand and use it all the time. The blade that comes with it is not so great so I keep it for rough cuts and boucht a clearance 80 tooth for trim work.

Kind of. IMO, the shadow line is much more accurate.

Correct. Shadow line never needs to be adjusted. Always accurate.

This has a shadow light it appears.

How would this compare to the 12" sliding Hercules that's on sale at Harbor Freight?

The same as a shadow line ? Not exactly, lasers are aimed or aligned which is a point of possible error. Did it get bumped since the last time you've used it ? Was it calibrated properly from the factory or just sort of ? The shadow line is always spot on and since the blade itself determines where the shadow is cast, if the blade alignment parameters change the shadow will reflect it.
Many people consider laser doohickys on saws unreliable and prefer shadow line.

This saw has an LED shadow line cut indicator. It does not have a laser.

I have the Hercules. The shadow line is fantastic. Always accurate with blade changes.

I've used it for about 1.5yr to rehab a house. Working fantastically.

I have it sitting on a Ridgid universal miter saw stand. Whatever you get, I 100% recommend that stand.

If you live in the Menards part of the country, this will probably be eligible for a 11% rebate, so this saw will cost under $300.

Is the max thickness really only 1.5-2"?? It says max cut is 2x16 but I'm not sure if that's nominal or actual. By comparison, the Jet 12" spec says max cut is 14" wide by 4" thick. You'd think 12" blade saws would have similar thickness capability.

Not sure where you're seeing the max thickness is only 1.5-2".
The specs on the HD page say 4".

Anyone buy one of these this year? I was wondering if they fixed the blade wobble problem.

.
We are considering the newly designed Hercules on sale with the extended warranty. There is no shipping to a depot or none of that nonsense for repairs while you don't have a saw until returned. Whatever the problem, HF just hands you a brand new saw in the box for the duration of purchased warranty. But, like the OP, DeWalt and others, now old technology and leaning towards the Makita that takes up less floor space from the wall and arguably more accurate.... at more expense.

The LSA is/was nice, but 'lifetime' is subjective ----as in whenever they decide to quit the program that is third party. And if you have to box it up and ship it to a repair depot, what a pain. Meanwhile, the Ridgid users I know are saying the 'not warranted' excuses are increasing, while like others, weeks to months to get returned. Of course, if reasonably new, Home Depot may do an exchange.

As far as LED light, laser light, shadow cut, it can be confusing. Basically, if the saw says 'LED' like the OP, chances are and to be verified, it is shadow cut. I presumed shadow cut was a DeWalt patent, but now, many saws, including the mid-range have it with the old laser line technology leaving the building.

For what it is worth, besides the XPS light, the DeWalt DWS780 that now in it's 6th series, is no better than the now DWS779 in it's 3rd series and not as good as the 779 in it's 1st series. In fact, the internals are identical and for $50 to $75, you can add the XPS light to become a DWS780.
