I own this watch in this exact color way. Invicta haters regularly come out of the woodwork, trash this watch and then recommend something costing two or three times as much. For $45, this thing is a steal. It's powered by a well regarded Seiko automatic movement and the case is all stainless steel and nicely finished. And the exhibition caseback is just plain cool. People who will nitpick over the mineral versus sapphire crystal, alumimun vs ceramic bezel, hollow endlinks and pressed steel clasp seem to lose sight of the fact that we're talking about a sub $50 automatic watch.

Legitimate reasons not to buy this watch:

If you don't appreciate the old fashioned charm of automatic (self-winding mechanical) movements, look elsewhere.
If you hate the idea of a Submariner homage, look for an original design. But but don't harp on Invicta for copying Rolex's iconic design, because they're far from the only company that does this.
If you're willing to brave the wild world of Aliexpress and other Chinese retail sites, you can get a similar Submariner homage with better specs for not a lot more ($75-$100)
The Invicta logo engraved on the side of the case bugs the crap out of some people.
Are you sure you want a dive watch? It gets its 200 meter water resistance in part due to its screw down crown, as does just about every other dive watch on the planet. If you forget to screw that crown back down after setting the time and get it wet, even once, you WILL ruin your watch.
Considering current situation.... Vostok might not be a best suggestion.
Invicta's QC and manufacturing processes have come a long way. Gold tone actually looks like gold. They use the TMI NH35a automatic movements like Seiko does and while they aren't as smooth as a NE88, Swiss made 25 jewel automatic they are decently accurate (but not Quartz accurate)

For this price nothing can touch it. There are better watches to be had albeit at a 300% increase in price.

Invicta is like the Axe spray of watches yeah it's good and gets the job done, some people may like it at a glance but it's going to be a watch you grow/phase out of quickly and there's no resale value.
Vaer D5 autos are where i landed. I wear them more then my Rolex
Well said. Watches collecting is one giant bottomless rabbit hole, and watch wearing is no different than clothes. I have a GS, back Bay 58, but I only wear them on rare occasions. My daily rotating beaters are the gshock 5610 and the citizen eco pro master, they are painless and maintenance free

"Spend couple of hundred more..." don't forget people visit slickdeals everyday BECAUSE we don't have that couple of hundreds more!

First, when did I dismiss any of your criticism? You replied to my post, not the other way around. I gave my personal insight and you are the one dismissing my opinions.
I'm responding and pointing out issues that you seem to be trying to *dismissing* as non-issues. Conversely my response to you is in no way dismissing of the support you've provided for this, but since you aren't paying attention, here it is YET AGAIN. This *is* a solid watch from a price-for-quality perspective - the Seiko movement, the case, the waterproofing, and the aesthetics are all great for a $50 watch. It is NOT necessarily the best for the price though, and I've presented the case for that. My stance isn't dismissive; yours is.

So exactly how much is a Casio quartz? I suspect it's about this price if not a little more. So if every dollar count, why are you dismissing spending about the same amount as your casio and never have to worry about getting a battery replacement or doing it them self?
Batteries are crazy cheap, and as is case back tool (if you even really want to buy one) that will outlast several generations of people. The cost to replace batteries vs the cost to service a auto movement isn't even close.

Quote from superslickz :
I have no problem with sd post offering alternative. But honestly, sometimes the alternative is a little too apples and oranges and it leads to unnecessary lengthy discussions such as this. This is a post about an automatic watch. Most people coming into this post knows that and are interested in getting an automatic watch. If they were looking into a quartz watch they probably wouldn't be in this thread.

This isn't even close to true of the SD crowd. Most people are NOT watch enthusiasts. Most people do NOT want to have to worry about keeping an auto wound and / or set it after not using for a few days. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if half the people saw this, saw the thumbs, and snap order and then are baffled when they receive a watch that doesn't have a battery in it. This discussion absolutely is helping people figure out what this product is, and what the alternatives are. Again, your tone is "we don't need to have this discussion" but it's predicated on faulty assumptions, and so I'll repeat - there's no good reason to try and dismiss what I'm saying.

No it doesnt! I own two of these watches for 6 years, wear them daily and they both look brand new. The color has not rubbed off one bit. Quit spreading this nonsense.....lol.

Since you obviously feel the need to address everyones comment I expect you will mine as well. I know they way my Invictas have aged and nothing you can say will sway that fact.

Oh so you experience invalidates that of those of thousands of people who've left reviews and experiences all over the internet from forums to the reviews of these watches? Got it. I'll bet your DeLorean is in mint condition too.

I'm glad you like your Invictas. I like mine too... the ones that don't have the gold coloring that is.

Lol, the NH35A is a Seiko movement so how can it be better than what's in a Seiko watch.

And anyone that laughs at someone for something they wear like clothes or a watch deserves no respect.

Buy what you like, wear what you like, because it's your money and your life. Let the haters hate.
You know that there can be different levels of quality from the same manufacturer, right? The Seiko caliber 7S26 is one of Seiko's cheaper movements, and is far outclassed by the NH35. Seiko only uses the 7S26 in their cheapest automatic watches, usually the Seiko 5s.

Or maybe you can read up more about the differences. Here's a link to help you understand:

Its a $45 watch, do you seriously think anyone that is buying a $45 watch is worried about its resale value?

I do see you mentioned you're planning to compare it to your boss's watch, which sounds to me like you'll be wearing it at work. If you're in a profession where you type a lot, or even if you rest your hands on a desk and kinda slide your hands around, I would recommend saving it for non-work wear. Anything that rubs against it with even light pressure is going to abrade it, and will take it off rather quickly -- this is true of any gold toned jewelry, not just these watches. I'm not giving out new information here, this is a general truth of this type of jewelry. If you're kind to your watch and don't to much to abrade it, and keep it clean from substances that will speed abrading, then sure you might minimize the wear for a good period of time like some of the commenters. Do be prepared for the chance that your wear patterns may make you less fortunate than those screaming that it'll last for year and years though.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new watch. As others have mentioned they do make a good modding watch base, and there are some pretty great looking mods out there.
Its a $45 watch, I'm going to beat the shit out of it. Its why I got rid of my rolex TBH, I couldn't wear that thing without it getting a scratch here or there and it was an air king so it was pretty plain looking...I never ONCE got a compliment on it. If I'm going incognito I'd rather pocket the $7k from selling that watch and buying something cheaper and putting that $ to better use. If the color fades in a year or 2 I'll buy something new. Its a good looking watch from what I can see so it'll be interesting for me.

Can someone comment on the quality difference , if any, with a similar Seiko or Citizen? Is the Eco the best way to go? Good choice? Any suggestions on another brand at the roughly $150-$200. level?
I'm sorta a watch guy. I have maybe 10 watches. 3 higher end and maybe 7ish daily wear. One of my favorites is a Citizen Eco watch. Been banged and jump in water probably monthly with it. Never an issue. I'm very happy with it. If all you want is something you don't want to worry about when jumping water, then it's an excellent option. If you really want something to do some diving with, then you should probably look at some dive specific watches. Ask divers. Personally, I would not buy this watch. But that's just me. I've never owned one.

All the chads rise, come to the light! This is your time to shine! Let it be known you are the decider, the one who deems watches worthy. Let the world who scoffs at you bow down to lick your driving moccassins. Your time is now!

It is a lot crazier than that. Yeah, their cost on the movement might have been $20.

But with the current shortage of NH35s, the movement itself can sell for as much as this watch costs to the end user. Honestly it is insane, the sad part I see in all this is the fact that very respectable movement could have been used in a watch that gets more respect.

If the trend continues on, I'll likely kick myself in a few years for not picking up one of these just to have the movement that I could replace one of my many other watches that use the same one in, but look better.
That's why I got two of these at this price-- if the watch is too garish I'll take the NH35s out and use them in some custom Seiko mods. These movements cost $45 each at the low end on places like Aliexpress!

Here's one for the ladies

https://www.amazon.com/Invicta-Wo...ast_sto_dp

I like the looks of that one as opposed to the gold men's one.

I like this stainless one with blue, $46
https://www.amazon.com/Invicta-Di...B07SH3673C

and in stainless + grey/black $46

https://www.amazon.com/Invicta-Di...B07SH16WRJ

Looks like they have lots under $50 if you dig around. Invicta isn't my favorite brand, but the price is hard to argue with.
