I have the PNY, the usb-c side snapped off. I put no strain on it just from normal use. Works ok now as regular USB drive. Haven't tried the SanDisk

Sandisk is much better quality. PNY drives break quickly

It's not very obvious from the pictures, but the Sandisk also has dual USB-C and USB-A.

Does anyone have thoughts about this item vs. the SanDisk Ultra Dual Luxe, currently $11.29 for the same 64GB capacity? https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-25...0842NMT7F/ [amazon.com]
In general SanDisk is a more trusted brand and this particular
item has a much higher build quality than the PNY on sale.

Another key point versus the two, the PNY cannot connect to
a phone without taking the phone case off but the SanDisk
will make the connection to the phone with the case on.

Its fun reading about how flash drives fail so darned much.

So far, I haven't ever had a flash drive fail. I still have some old 8GB ones and a whole box full of SD cards of various vintage. All still work.

I also still have every SSD I ever bought, back to the 64GB. Only that run of crappy OCZ SSD's that all died went out on me.

Also, if a flash drive becomes "hot enough to burn your fingers", that product is designed improperly. The only flash drive I ever had that got really hot was a sandisk Fit usb 3.1 drive. Way too small to properly dissipate heat at those speeds. That got returned.

Drives are "too hard to open"? Is there a deal on hand strengthening workout stuff?

Other than some of the full length usb-c drives feeling like the little connector might just shear off from the leverage, so far none have.

Cool so if you've had a certain experience it must invalidate others'?
I've had flash drives that were ridiculously tough to open, almost "stuck". Also, yes the Sandisk design gets incredibly hot, had one about a decade ago. Figured they would have changed that by now but I guess not.

It just invalidates the opinions of people who never learned to return defective product, and those with baby hands?

A decade ago. Clearly you're a man who really knows how to point out the salient stuff.

Folks, buy this if it seems it'll fit your needs. If it is so hot that it burns your skin, return it. Otherwise, as long as you care for the product withing a reasonable range, it'll be fine.

Don't pay extra for a name or a brand. Its largely irrelevant when it comes to flash. Your brand name device may have been made on the same assembly line using the same exact components.

I have a ton of PNY and other oddball noname flash devices, none have ever failed or ever given me any trouble.

Buy a phone where you can insert a micro SD card. You don't need this.
My phone has a 400gb SD card, i use these flash drives to transfer music and pictures from my phone to computer. I also plug my flash drive with music into my car radio through usb connector.

Do you have any advice that isn't couched in an ad-hominem attack or are you just incapable of making salient arguments with only facts?

While I agree that in many cases name branding can often be used to artificially inflate prices, you obviously don't understand that the difference between different name products coming off the same assembly line can ALSO be in how much QA is applied to the output. That is why some tech components fare better over the long run even though cheaper brands may appear identical. Having spent decades developing high end robotics and automotive sensor production lines in multiple countries, I can assert this is precisely what happens in many factories. Brand A runs the machines and performs good random sampling, QA oversite, and batch testing. Cheapo brand B takes the seconds from the Brand A line or buys the output from the line on another shift without adequate QA of output. But sure, you made a "me strong man, have tough hands" comment so your tech knowledge must be superior.
