I used TT Premier for years. This year I switched to HR Block deluxe. I have a lot of brokerage transactions and they imported fine. State installed fine. My last year TT return imported fine. After completing this years return I have a couple observations. If you are new to doing your own taxes or unfamiliar with how it works.....TT offers more handholding and fewer stuck moments where you dont know what to do. I feel HRBlock is more for people with some experience doing their taxes. That being said Deluxe did everything Premier did as far as completing my return. I just find TT a bit more intuitive but at a huge premium in price. Just my opinion. I wiil be using HRBlock Deluxe+state from now on.

I have used both and don't really have a preference. Sometimes if I'm ambitious, I will do a free trial of the other one and do my taxes on both to see if there are discrepancies or one shows a higher return. Typically they dont

Wow they really want you to switch from TurboTax.

Anyone who previously used TurboTax (federal + state) have good things to say about H&R?

Or are they literally the same?
I cannot comment on Turbotax but will be switching to something else after 15+ years. H&R Block has steadily been declining in value each year IMHO. This year was absolutely a joke in terms of how many forms I had to manually open and fill out. To be fair I have a pretty complicated tax form with required use of Schedule C and E for business/K-1 income, but that's the whole point in paying for the premium version to handle. I will say if Turbotax is anything like Quickbooks then I would stay as far away from Intuit as possible. This was the first and last year I'll use that program for my books. A spreadsheet would seriously be better...

$20 extra to e-file State. Not a deal.
Do you know of a better deal that includes state efile?

Quote from Appelski :
Given the cost of "2nd State", least expensive way that I know of, is to buy their Federal Software twice.

Yes, Two Computers.
Quote from ali_cmi :
Hi JL5, can you share some more details? The way I understand is: buy 2nd one, activate it on another computer, do federal + state and then only file state. Is that correct?
Isn't the problem with multiple states that they may have questions related to how much you paid in the other state? Does it properly handle those questions when you do the two states on different computers?
I only did multiple states once, back when I was in college. But I'll have to help someone work that out again this year.
As for getting the "trick" to work, I'm assuming you can activate one copy on more than one computer. The license is primarily limited by how many federal efiles you can do (5). I've never really understood the purpose of the 5 efiles unless you can share it with friends who may or may not be in different states.

FreeTaxUSA [freetaxusa.com] has free federal and $15 state filing. They also offer free support (help within 24 hours) and $7 premium support (instant chat help). I have fairly simple taxes so I can't comment on the more complex stuff, but it was really easy. Highly recommend!

Always the guy shilling this online free tax website. This is for people who want to use software so just give it a rest. One size tax does not fit all.

Depends on your income. Taxslayer via United Way is completely free State and Federal.

Dam I should have waited for this. I bought it at $17 for last deal.

Could have used HD or Lowes gift card.

Please elaborate how this is shilling. Someone asked for other deals. I gave a recommendation of a product that I used and enjoyed. I even clarified that I had simpler taxes, so I couldn't comment on the more complex tax situations.

It seems like you took this personally, but this is a forum to spread knowledge about relevant information/deals and that's exactly what I was doing. If you're happy with H&R Block, then great! But there's no need to get upset because other people have different needs/preferences.

Also, this you? LMAO https://slickdeals.net/f/15622231-turbotax-premier-state-2021-tax-software-download-53-99?p=153542719#post153542719

$20 for Federal + 2 different States.
I seem to remember there was a trick to getting State twice for free, but don't remember it; two different computers??
Years back I was successful in using 2 different computers to download 2 different states for me and my parents. Worked without any issues. Not the same situation but you can try out for free.

Enter info and complete only the federal portion of the taxes and save the file before downloading state version. This way you can share the same federal files on 2 different computers before initiating state taxes.

Hope it works... 🙂

I bought it in last deal. Today I imported Robinhood forms from desktop H&R block software and it imported 2020 forms instead of 2021 !!!. Now I have to delete it manually n check everything all again . God knows which other forms they imported wrong

Use CashApp taxes and got almost the same result as Turbotax premier. Totally FREE to file Fed & state with CashApp taxes. My taxes are simple except for 1 rental property but had to use Turbotax Premier version in order to do the rental expenses and income. Do your own comparison and see which is cheaper option for you.

So reading reviews of cashapp on playstore definitely not using them. Had been using KC for past few years as my taxes simple. Own house but doesn't matter as standard deduction higher. Think this is best deal. Taxact and TT seam to cost more.

Try installing it on different computers and then install different states. You could also try to mess with its Windows registry entry...
