Good, yes. I'd go as far as to say they're better for gaming than the 6xx.
With that said, they make the 6xx sound exciting and that's hard to do. These are extremely neutral. They're a bit harsh on the top end for me but they're still great. I used them as my main set until I got Focal Clears. Now I use them with my PS5.
Edit: As for open vs closed back, open back is better for gaming. Much wider soundstage, less overpowering bass usually. Better for footsteps, vocals, etc. However sound leakage is a consideration. It's not enough to transmit through a mic(I've tested dynamic and condenser) but it is noticeable to others in a room with you.
Fine for gaming but these are open-back, so everyone around will hear everything you hear almost as clearly
What are you doing to your headphones? I've had my 598 for 5 years now, and they have the same exact connector from the looks of it. I've dropped these more times than I can count from desk height, and the same cord is still going strong.
Also the replacement cable, should you ever need one, is $10 on amazon. That isn't expensive, and the stock ones are durable as hell from my experience.

Amazing for gaming. The soundstage and being able to tell where enemies are coming from is great. Though they are open back so outside noises will come in.
Do not buy. The detachable proprietary cable will break in 3 month for sure. It is expensive to replace and will break again.

Hey guys looking for feedback I've had experience with hd 598 58x and 6xx how do these compare? Also if anyone has suggestions on a headphone to shake up my lineup maybe with wider Soundstage not Akg wide but wider and more treble and bass then the 6xx is quite tame in. I've tried friends beyers before and I think that is a little to much treble. Any help is appreciated
