I had Belkin surge protectors and 2 of my TVs fried during a bad thunderstorm. Crazy thing is one of the surge protectors was switched off and my TV was still fried. Well they made good on the warranty, albeit at depreciated cost (not replacement cost) so a $500 TV that was about 5 years old I got I think $120, and another even older and smaller TV I got $40. Caveat was I had to mail in at my expense both of the surge protectors and they do not replace those. So all in, the surge protectors probably cost me $50 in total, and then the postage was probably $15. I got SOME money back and while I had to jump through some hoops (taking pictures of serial #s, mailing in the surge etc), the protection guarantee does work and you do get SOMETHING back.

I have no experience with APC protection guarantee but personally I'd stick with the brand names over Amazon Basics and no-name Chinese surge protectors, especially the name brand ones aren't really that much more expensive. My stuff aren't top-notch nor new so to me it was better than nothing, but if you have new fancier TVs that extra $10 for a name brand surge protector is definitely worth it. You can go through home warranty etc. but I'd guess by the time you hit your deductible it won't be worth it.
I bought this last time but found out the clamp voltage is wrong in the website. It's actual printed clamp voltage on the unit is 500v
500v is it good or bad? I'm noob to this thanks

the price seems on par as 4xxx joules is about $25-30

though one thing you do not want to fall for is the protection guarantee pay out.

yes, belkin is well known, but 'others' will make you jump thru hoops and dance circle and pay on your dime to ship back the fried surge protector, never to be heard from ever again.

the thing about surge protectors is they will not stop a direct lightening strike where the lightening will just arc right across the components.

That's why I never buy unless I can zoom on the image and read the rating for myself. Can confirm 500V on this one.

I prefer UPS for those things I value. Surge protectors are for extra outlets...

most consumer mid-grade ups are only 500 joules.

Isn't 500V a bit too high of a clamping voltage. I was under the impression that 300 or under is the way to go for a reliable surge protection
