Overview: If Samsung is processing trade-ins like prior deals, you will receive instructions by email--along with a prepaid shipping label--around the time your new phone arrives. You can also print the label from your online Samsung account.
You will send in the phone only (no boxes, chargers, SIMs, cases, etc.). Exception: If you are trading a Note series, the S Pen must be included. Phone must be factory reset and have no passwords or locks. Good practice: Make a VIDEO and take photos of the phone, including showing some functions, to prove the condition if Samsung challenges you after inspecting the phone. More details....

My phone has scratches [or burn in or faulty Bluetooth or fill in the blank]. Will Samsung accept the phone? Will the trade in amount be reduced? According to the FAQ, "Your device must have no breaks, cracks, or other defects that go beyond normal wear and tear." Is your issue normal wear and tear?
When/how will I get instructions for trading in my phone? Samsung will send you an email with the subject "Welcome to the Samsung Trade-In Program." The email will arrive anywhere from the day the phone ships to a few days after the phone arrives. It includes a link to download a pre-paid shipping label. You have 15 days from receipt of the email to ship the trade in. You can also get the shipping label for the trade in from your online Samsung account under order details.
Two commonly asked questions about financed and leased phones:
1. The device I'm trading in is one that I bought using an equal payment or other financing plan, and I still have payments left on it. Can I still trade it in?

Keep in mind, even if the rep says they will apply the discount to the new model, you still have to wait a couple of days until their back end team processes the transaction, so wait until you get an email confirming the partial refund.
Sometimes the back end team will email you and say they won't process the refund, which could happen if they realize it's the wrong laptop. Especially if they see the date you requested it was before the new model was released, so it's a gamble.
If that happens, you'd have to return that one for free and buy the last gen model to get the price match honored. I believe Samsung will reactivate the $250 pre-order credit or send you a new one once they process the return, but I've always used the pre-order credit at time of purchase so I'm just going off of what I've seen other people say.
I have a question however, i received the $200 preorder instant credit but they are telling me that is only for accessories, I never noticed that when i preordered, i thought the $200 gets applied to the price of the phone. Can anyone clear this up?
I have not sent my trade in yet thankfully. I placed an order for the phone. Exact same phone. Told them I wanted that price. She said "you got the best promotion we offer with the pre-order"... I asked why, then, is my price $300 cheaper now? She just replied that they are no longer price matching. I will be returning this s22 ultra at their expense. They will pay for shipping, restocking, cleaning. Then my order for the exact same s22 ultra - same color, storage size, etc - will ship in 2 weeks. They'll pay shipping. And I'll get my $300 trade-in.
I'm angry. I've bought a new top of the line washer and dryer from them, 3 expensive phones, 2 watches, all in the past 10mo. And they do this. Pump up this pre-order and say it's the best deal you can get, then offer me $400 for a phone I bought from them in October that retails for $1,300....then after pre-order, up it to $700? The pre-order deal was dismal. It wasn't a deal at all. Then when I try to get price match, they tell me I have to return it. I'm severely physically disabled. I'm on a ventilator with a tracheostomy. It's not easy for me to get out to a FedEx hub. And they hope it'll be so hard that I won't do it to get my money back. But now, out of spite, I am will do it. And I'm not buying anymore Samsung products if this is their customer service. I spent tons of money on their products and this is the customer service I get? Pass.

I did go for the higher tradein value, so I can't complain getting $825 for my S20 Ultra (probably as good as it gets).
My thought is that it sucks to have a better deal come along, I sure would like an extra $250 credit, but I agreed with the original deal and Samsung is under no reason to give me more.
