I'll add my 2 cents here since this information helped me on another thread. This device is more powerful than your regular Fire TV stick and Chromecast w/GTV. It may or may not be noticeable in everyday tasks but where I feel that it really shines is in streaming games from my PC to my TV. I get smooth 1080P streaming with no artifacts and no noticeable lag. I've tested multiple other devices and none of them was as good.

Can you wirelessly stream audio from a fire tv stick to your echos? I have a "home theater" setup with fire tv cube and 2 echos and echo sub all synced and playing together wirelessly from whatever I'm watching from my fire tv cube. It's so convenient in fact that I'm getting rid of my klipsch 2.1 setup in my bedroom

Do you know what accessory you would need for trade-in? I'm trading in my old fire stick as well.

When you click the trade-in, Amazon asks below:

Does this device power on?
Are all accessories, such as remotes, included with the device?

I guess you can get away with just Firestick and its remote since question above specifically mentions the remote.

But just to be safe, I am mailing Firestick, remote, generic usb cable, and generic usb power adapter.

I chose no to second question and trade-in amount remained the same. I'll just send in remote and fire stick.

With Kodi gone, and not much into Amazon echo system, for general 4K streaming, is Roku streaming stick 4k+ is better or Fire TV cube?
How is Kodi gone?

Idk if this is the model I have but everything streaming hiccups on my TV. I have a wired connection, even plex does it. It's annoying as hell. Paid $40 on woot a while back.

That was for the 1st gen. 2nd gen is leaps and bounds better compared to that. Understandably, due to the poor naming scheme Amazon uses, every 2nd gen deal thread ends up with comments mistaking the 1st gen for the 2nd.

On an unrelated note, I'm hoping all these 70 dollar deals means that they're finally going to release a new fire cube this october...long overdue. Maybe Amazon Luna will give them more incentive to do so. Hopefully it's not just an incremental upgrade with AV1 and Wifi 6 like they did for the max. Have a feeling it will be though. More ram and storage would be nice.

That's the way I feel about the 1st gen cube when those deals occasionally pop up. The 2nd gen is still fine, but it is indeed very old and would like to see an update.

Was going to ask this also, still use it daily. Well a kodi fork anyways but works flawlessly still.

Fire TV Cube 2 CPU and GPU benchmarks [aftvnews.com] compared with other streaming devices. You'll notice it's a pretty big performance jump over the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, both in CPU (single/Multi) and GPU.

With the recent update, they blocked certain apps, such as custom launchers and debloaters (where you can disable most of the amazon stuff)

I meant lot of free stuff gone, not Kodi per se.

Yeah this is worth noting

Remapper also requires another workaround now too

I don't recommend the Cube anymore as they tend to have problems with non-Amazon streaming apps: rewind/fast-forward causes it to freeze and re-boot in those apps. Also, for those streaming services with commercials, the Cube will also freeze and requires rebooting. I replaced all 5 Cubes in my house with Roku Ultras and haven't had nowhere near the issues I had with the Cubes. I'll probably sell the Cubes in a yard sale when it warms up.

Dunno, haven't had a single problem with mine and I subscribe to literally all of the major streaming services currently out there. They are substantially faster than the FireTV 4k sticks and the remote-ir is nice since my receivers are in AV-cabinets.

The fact they are still cracking down on custom launchers is a total dick move IMHO.

I am having such issues with old 2016 fire stick, I thought it is towards end of life. Probably it is common problem.
