Android Auto with wire connection is OK.
The interface is really bad, it says you can resize the widget you really can't, again Chinese crap.
The worst thing happened with me, on the second day when I tried to dial to one my friend I couldn't find his contact in the list I was like what the heck and he was in my favorite list too, checked the favorite list gone, everyone from the favorite list, my parents, brothers and other relative numbers all gone.
Then, I checked the contacts.google.com for a backup, holy crap, my Google cloud backup was completely empty with zero contacts, Imagine that I have close to 1000 contacts and all gone.
Finally contacted Google, but they couldn't do much except blaming me for not taking backup, anyway, while playing online, I saw that Trash can still have my contacts because anything that got deleted Google moved to trash for 30 days and then delete them permanently.
So I restore and also imported the contacts (lesson learned, now I have four backup copies), then, second day same thing and third day, finally I am tired of restoring everyday and couldn't able to figure out what's causing to delete all my contacts from my cloud backup and phone.
So checked the deleted contacts and found (Deleted on Sprd - uis8581a2h10_Automotive) the error. This BS crap cheap Chinese junk AOTOTO basically whenever I connect either BT or Android Auto, deleting all the contacts from my phone upon exiting or closing the app.
Since my contacts are backed up and sync with Google Cloud, in turn the contacts getting auto deleted from Google account as well.
So just to single out the issue, I forget the BT and didn't connect the unit for a day and my contacts are still intact.
Stay away from this crap, I am returning it and I have wasted $120 installation. If only someone had same experience with this head unit contact deleting feature I wouldn't even have bought it.

I was running an Eonon from 2 or 3 years ago that was outdated and was trash from the day I bought it. Eonon is a bad company if anyone was wondering, they sent me parts to repair my own screen, when the digitizer wasn't working, 2 days after I installed it. Never buy from them.
My SOL's head unit still works, he's fine with his, but when I used it after installing it, I knew it was a mediocre unit, that's when I knew I wanted the S8 Ultra. This thing is super responsive, screen looks awesome.
It's a little on the expensive side if you're on a budget, I bought it refurbished from Atoto on Ebay for $295, but I know the S8 Ultra is going for $500+ in most places brand new, plus they're still honoring the warranty even though it's sold as refurb.
Like I said, don't buy A6, it's not worth it.

Should I buy it or go with the s8 on Amazon, Pioneer 1500NEX?

These cheaper radios are good, when they work fine, what makes them iffy is customer support, if you have a problem, they'll try to help, but they're really reluctant in replacing a radio 1 for 1.
If I buy a radio from an American store, they'll be quick to replace the unit, instead of this back and forth that I get from these Chinese sellers. I should've learned my lesson from "Eonon".
I will never buy another Chinese seller ever again.
While the S8 Ultra has every feature you can ask for, the customer service just ruins the experience.
They just added Wireless Android Auto if you're interested in that, which is a feature that it didn't come with, but the Apple Carplay works flawlessly.
In my opinion, if you have the funds, get a unit from Crutchfield or Best Buy or maybe even Amazon.

I just bought a Sony, Model:XAVAX3250 from Best Buy, $29x after taxes. in used/fair condition. This HU seems ok.
Tbh, none of these entry level ($300-350) car stereo receivers from big name brands (Sony, Pioneer, etc) intrigue me that much. 480p, non-HD displays, lag when using apps, lack of features, can't download some apps, etc. I'm sure the reliability is there so that's the reason why I'm going the big brand route. I don't want to install another HU.
This stereo is going on a beater, Toyota car that I run errands in so I don't really care that much. My first car stereo. In my main car, I'll be sure to wait for a deal either from ATOTO or from Pioneer or Sony. I read from reddit that Boss is junk. There's a big shortage of HUs during Covid.
I like the features on the pure Android stereos. Wish Sony was more up to date.

The sound problem can be temporarily "fixed" by rebooting the HU, outside of that, the unit would compete with the big dogs.
They're using me to troubleshoot a problem that apparently hasn't happened to them.

I like how Sony's HUs' chasis are similarly built across their low end to high end models. To me it's a trade-off between better tech, lower build quality, and risk vs. sound, reliability and less tech. Idk what suits me more. This will give me a better idea i guess. I like good sounds/audio. how's the audio on the s8?
