You really have to look at the pawl design to make such a conclusion. Yes, 90 teeth are finer than 84, which are finer than 70, but some designs (which may include Gearwrench) engage more teeth at one time. So, even though the teeth are finer, the pawl design may be designed so that many more teeth are engaged at one time thereby making it actually stronger that many designs with a lower tooth count mech.
Also, for the naysayers and nonbelievers, there is a lifetime warranty. So, you have little risk in the end, anyway.

One thing to keep in mind, some HD reviews from not so long ago last year report they received older 84T ratchets with their sets instead of the advertised 90T.
