FYI - To my knowledge, none of the current LG monitors have input auto-switching. This is important for people, like me, who want to use the same monitor for WFH and personal use. I have an LG and it takes a minimum of 5 presses/movements on the control stick to change monitors which gets old REALLY quick. I'm specifically switching to a different monitor due to this annoyance and I'll never buy another monitor without proper auto-detect/switching again. Also, apparently Samsung doesn't have this properly implemented in a lot (only some) of their monitors. So that nixed one of the Samsung monitor deals from a couple days ago.

EDIT: I ended up buying this Gigabyte monitor and it is a dream. I don't regret switching from an LG IPS to this VA monitor at all.

Good call. For reference, here is a comparison with what I think is the most similar monitor on the market, the LG:

Not even in the market for a monitor but you got my vote with this one. I can feel the struggle in your post. Looking for the right fit in the plethora of choices. It's a modern day Cinderella.

I ended up purchasing this. Not sure how it compares to an IPS but I'll find out. Hopefully there isn't too much blurring when playing FPS games.

You nailed it. It really is quite the undertaking and arguably a pretty frustrating process. I've worked remotely for 10yrs as a software developer - and have always limped along with a multi-monitor setup provided by my employer. I decided to upgrade my office this year, starting with a large monitor that I could share between my two primary PCs.

Since I WFH, I wanted something that would most easily allow me to toggle back and forth between my work machine and my personal machine. I quickly realized that getting 2 of 3 required features was pretty easy, but getting 3/3 could easily double the cost. Not wanting to spend a grand, I opted to settle for "2 out of 3" - giving up curved for built-in KVM with PIP/PBP.

I went with a Gigabyte M34WQ. While I do miss the curve, it's not too bad with this 34'. It's an IPS, which is nice. Ergonomics are pretty good. KVM can be a little flaky at times but is definitely serviceable and has decluttered my desk a bit having fewer keyboards, monitors, and associated cables running about (being able to do PBP and switch input devices with the tap of a button is great for long-running meetings).

How well does the PBP work? I've read that on a lot of implementations, both sides of the PBP get "squished" due to the active resolution signal being the full 3440x1440. I ordered this monitor (G34WQC) and I won't get it for a few more days so I won't get to play with it myself until then. I also struggled with the monitor meeting my criteria and decided to give up KVM in favor of the curve - I'll get a USB switch for my keyboard instead. I mainly hope that going from IPS to VA won't be too much of an issue gaming (color saturation as well as ghosting).

Looking for advice. Looking for two monitors. 34+ inch ultrawide for basic office use and a Dell 2721dgf for the gaming setup. Is this monitor over kill for basic functions. Does not need to be a gaming monitor. (Basic internet) any better cheaper options for 34 inch+ ultrawides? Thanks anyone!!

Highly suggest buying a warranty from the purchase place. My menu control broke after a year and can't make any changes. Think goodness for auto switching. But gigabyte wants you to ship it back to them for a fix. And that cost about $150 for shipping with no guarantee that they will fix it.

The Dell is a fantastic budget gaming monitor (I use one). There are much better monitors for office use in this price range, though. You're paying extra for features you don't need (high refresh rate, etc), and giving up features that make an office monitor great. Here are a few examples of better ones: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re...ess-office
