How can it be subpar, when it beats the RTX 3070 in 70% of the games head to head. I've watched multiple videos that repeat these wins, it would be different if these 6800m's still were in 2k+ laptops, but this is 1400 bucks NIB, even less if its open box. What other gaming laptop at 1399.99 has the same power? All 3070 laptops in the 1400-1700 dollar range come with a 5800hx and most with a 1080p screen, except the Legion and Asus (no web cam idiot move). This laptop should be great for 1080p and 1440p gaming, just hate that it doesnt include HDMI 2.1.
Fastest of my laptops ive had. scores 11,000 on time spy.
A real deal at 1000$ open box.

I bought this last year for 1600 and never regretted it. It was a fantastic buy that can play modern games on high even w/o replacing the ram. For $1399, it's a good buy. I haven't had issues with it. I'm also amazed at the battery life for productivity. the battery life is better than my work laptop that was for productivity.

Video card is subpar. This laptop should be <1000
Sorry, but you are wrong. This is a AMD 6800M. It can outperform a RTX 3070 depending on the TDP and the specific game involved.

I bought one and I'm getting low fps. VRAM reads 512. Not sure what's going on.😥
VRAM reading 512MB is probably the integrated GPU not the dedicated GPU. If you give more detail we can possibly help.

your thoughts on this compared to legion 5 pro?
A lot of people like the legion 5 pro for what it gives. It you don't care bout the webcam and just strictly for gaming, browsing etc. this laptop will be suffice enough for all those. Even the screen being a 1080p, the 360hz def covers the smoothness

I decided to try my luck at an Open Box - Satisfactory for 1059. The comments were "residue".

It looked like someone ate fried chicken and then played some FPS and greased up the keys.

Its clear best buy tried to wipe it off but could not get it all off. I cleaned it and hopefully everything else is ok.

There is still manufacturer warranty until the end of the year so I think I'm covered... ? I don't know a lot about the slow ram thing but I checked HwInfo64 and tRFC 560 is supposed to be the fast one?

First open box. hope it lasts. Seems like a pretty good deal overall.

1059 open box in my area, but I'm hesitant with all of the quality control issues on this particular laptop. I have been eyeing it for days now but can't seem to click buy. Really on the fence, and the comments here aren't helping, haha.

It would be helpful if people posting laptop deals would include the weight in the specs. Most people buying a laptop have some concern about mobility. Any manufacturer can make a laptop with decent specs that weighs 8 lbs. From Chromebook to gaming rig the goal should be to pack the appropriate level of performance for that purpose into as light a package for as low a price as is possible. To be sure weight is only one factor in comparing laptops —but it is definitely one factor and as such should be listed in the specs.

I disagree. Gaming laptops are going to be heavy. People who game want better cooling and expect higher weight. Sure, posting the weight is nice, but shouldn't be required unless it's a specific selling point (ex LG gram)

This looks like a good deal but that may also be due to the AMD internals. Which may not be the best for laptops. They run hotter and require more power.

A serious, high powered one may be heavy, but there are some light and portable ones that can hold its own weight in gaming. I have the ROG Zephyrus with the 5900HS and 3060 and it handles just about anything I throw at it. All in a 14" package that weighs 3.79lbs.

Lots of misinformation in this thread.

This GPU is nearly as powerful as the 3080 in laptops although it does consume about 25% more power when pushed to the limit.

The CPU is much more efficient than comparable intel chips for this generation, though (typical 15w vs ~30w) which will give better battery life when not gaming.

What everyone is saying about the liquid metal is true, however.
From what I've read the first batches of these have poor thermals because of it, so I wouldn't buy an open box unless you're getting some type of extended warranty.

Your zeph 14 is about two inches smaller and uses magnesium to get the weight down. It's intended to be portable. This is intended as a desktop replacement powerhouse.

I ended up returning it unfortunately. I spend a whole night deleting and re-installing the drivers. I would go to device manager, and the graphics card was there but windows would disable it. It was an open box so not sure if I was me or if it was actually faulty.

Another point against me getting one of the local open boxed ones. Applause Thanks for posting!
