I've kind of been put off HyperX headsets. A few years ago I had a set which sounded decent, and I was able to wear it all day long for music and meetings. The non-replaceable cord eventually crapped out, so I upgraded to Cloud Alphas, and I absolutely hate them.

They don't sound great, but my biggest issue is comfort. The first pair had recessed speakers in the earpieces and nice soft pads. The Alpha's speakers are flush with the base of the pads, so they had to be firmer to hold your ears away from everything. Now they are awkward to wear, not comfortable for long stretches, don't seal as well, and stick out to the sides a laughable distance.

Maybe the Cores are better, but I'm not holding my breath. Now I just use my Sony headphones with a V Mods boom mic.
As I noted in my other comment, you are correct. The Alpha S headset sounds horrible with the soundcard. Like very noticeably bad. Idk how they let them hit stores, The Cores and IIs are the way to go. I'm a hyperx headset fanboy and I was appalled when I got the Alphas. Sent them straight back.

One minor thing to note regarding these and any headphones that simulate surround sound or spatial audio is that they'll break spatialization for some games. In those cases, you'd just want to disable the headphones' surround or spatial features and use them in a standard stereo configuration.

This is only a problem in the few games that already have a spatial mix, like Halo Infinite for example. Most games don't do spatial mixes, so it's not usually a problem. But if you stop hearing footsteps or gunshots from behind you, that's almost certainly the issue, and disabling the virtual surround will almost certainly fix it.

I've been wearing my HyperX Clouds for 7 years now, every day, almost all day to the point where they are peeling apart lol. Absolutely the best headphones I've ever owned spanning 30 years. The sound quality, comfort, everything about them is phenomenal. I hope these newer versions are as good.

I bought two of these (one for work, one for home). Thank you!!!!

for big head people, like me. The core is smaller than Cloud II. it barely covers all my ears even at max adjust. debating if I should return it.
How did you figure that the cores around ears area is smaller than could II ?

Any difference in using these vs ANC headphones (Soundcore q30) for gaming purposes? I play on my PS5 with my headphones but wanted to see if these are worth buying .

This happened to me too! Sounds like there may be a mix up with the product in their system because it also happened to you so I'm returning and will buy from Best Buy instead. Don't take a chance with being sent the wrong item again.

I had these for about 2 years now and paid full price back then. Defiantly worth every penny. If they weren't holding up so well I would have purchased a second. At this price its very tempting.

PS: You almost cant hear anything happening near by since the cushion on the earpiece are so good. It mutes the outside world pretty well.

Edit: Sorry guys. Big mistake. My comment below is referencing the Cloud Alpha S headset (read title wrong). The Cloud Cores actually sound the same as the IIs except they don't have 7.1. Honestly I don't even use the 7.1 on my IIs most of the time. So yea this is a good deal. But the Alpha S are poop. Avoid those.

FOR ALPHA S HEADSET- These sound like sh** compared to the cloud IIs. Idk how or why but they do. My buddy and I have both been using the cloud IIs for years and got these last time they were on sale and sent them straight back. I even called hyper X. It's the new sound card that makes them sound bad. If you don't use the sound card it sounds way better. Don't believe me? Buy them both from Amazon and send back the one you don't like
I second this and am a beginner audiophile, the cloud alpha s are literal crap while the cloud ii's are rebadged takstar pro 80's which were pretty popular.

This or the HP Omen deal from today? This is almost half...
Audiophile here. I have both. The omen sound signature is offputting for audiophiles who have very high standards but probably won't be noticed by your average gamer.

This has a very balanced, pleasing sound signature as it is a rebranded takstar pro80.

I would only get the omen if you wanted the ear cooling tech.

These will have a way more pleasing sound signature out of the box. The q30 while nice needs heavy eq something like -12db in the midbass regions.

Here are some presets you can try

Thanks I tried the Omen last night and it's so heavy I could feel it straining my neck. I immediately ordered these and will compare...

Comfortable for glasses wearers. Can readily wear these for at least a few hours at a time.

Thank goodness for hassle-free returns. Did not notice before ordering that the only inline mic mute is on the USB part.
