I assume there is some sort of filter that will capture the smoke/carbon, but when reviewing the manual, doesn't seem to indicate a piece to clean or replace.
Since the carbon has to go somewhere...if you can't clean it, it will probably get really nasty sooner rather than later... and thus disposable.

Ofc that means yes grilling chemicals coming off could be recirculated and increase carcinogens of your air fried foods..

"Despite its popularity, outdoor grilling comes with many hazards. BBQ smoke contains a high level of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are known to cause DNA mutations, respiratory disease, and even lung cancer."

If you're worried about health though, just consider reducing your meat consumption a bit.
I don't always follow my own rule, but I try to get higher quality meats in lesser quantity (cost the same as lesser quality but higher quantity). Not a very slickdeals mentality, but health isn't cheap, lol.
"More HCAs are formed when pan surface temperatures are higher than 220 °C (428 °F) such as with most frying or grilling"
Contrary to popular belief, the chicken companies got people fooled:

TLDR? - Pan-fried meats were the largest source of HA in the diet and chicken the largest source of HAs among different meat types.
