That particleboard is going to sag in no time, especially if exposed to some humidity. I had one of these in my garage and it was horrible until I replaced the shelves with plywood.
I bought two of these just a couple of weeks ago (same price). Very pleased with them. I prefer this design over wire racks since it's difficult to put small items on wire racks.

The board is supported on all four sides by the metal ledges and so they should support decent amount of weight. Of course, I wouldn't test anywhere near the advertised limit. For casual home storage needs they should suffice very well. Just use common sense and you should be fine Smilie.

A couple of things of note -
• Having a mallet really helps. But don't pound the metal directly with the mallet. You might damage the mallet or bend the metal. Place a thick rag or something (I used a work glove) over the metal and then pound it.
• The company has a few SKU's with slight variations. Some of them do not come with couplers to couple top and lower portions. Luckily this SKU does. However this SKU does not come with plastic top and bottom ends, which some do.
• One of my units came with only 3 couplers instead of 4. Not sure if one was missed during packaging or it fell out during shipping (the package seemed slightly banged up). I called the company and they immediately sent me a set of 4. Arrived in 2 days. Not an ideal situation but good customer service.
24" fits bins better

Did you just buy sheets
of plywood and cut them to size?
Yep but you could have your HomeDepot or Lowes do it for you if you give them the dimensions.

No, not based on what I'm seeing here.

24" depth worth it over these 18"?

For organizing storage totes the 24" would definitely be better. If you're in no rush then there's normally a black Friday deal or two for these in the $50 neighborhood.

The 800 lbs is a farce..... regardless of the even distribution I have 2 of these in a dry location and a shelf with less than 100 lbs total has broken in the middle.

These are not quality. Recommend using only for light loads (basically food or crafts or things in bins to help distribute the weight). Otherwise need to either add another layer to the shelf or replace it as another had mentioned.

Get the rolling NSF shelves. They're better than these for most uses.

I bought this a year ago for about the same price. I put it in my garage. The boards do sag overtime after being exposed to moisture. Just replace the wood with plywood. The box was missing a bracket too so I had bolt a piece of steel to it.

I agree about the 24", but I don't recall seeing that size for less than $65 for a few years now. I think the $50 days are pretty much over, other than getting lucky on a clearance or something. I have 2 and could use a few more if they ever do hit that low again though.

Most rack prices have been up this past year so it'll be tough to find one for $50.
