I've tried almost every phone gaming setup and while not perfect this is the best I've used. Works great with Xbox game pass.

I've been using the Kishi for a few months now and it's a great little controller. My only suggestion is keep in mind that not all games are supported. I bought it specifically to play the Final Fantasy VI remaster and it turned out to be unsupported... Basically it's up to the dev teams to decide whether they want to implement controller support or not.

There are two rubber pieces where the phone sits on either end. You can wiggle these and remove them so that you can use a phone with the case on.

I used the iOS version but returned it. Had to take off the phone case no matter how thin the case was. It was a hassle I did not want to deal with

For S22 Ultra owners, this doesn't really fit. Might be able to torque on it a bunch to get it in, but likely not worth it.

Was gifted one of these for my birthday last week and I've been using it pretty much all the time. Works great with the SteamLink app and Gamepass. My only complaints:

1. I have a Pixel 4a which is a little small. Occasionally, the left side wants to try and wobble off the top of the phone. I don't think this would be an issue if you've got a larger device that actually fits in it.

2. As mentioned previously, you have to take any case you may have on your phone off. It's fairly easy for mine as I've got a really thin TPU case, but it can be a hassle.

Just make sure you go check the supported phone dimensions vs what your phones actual dimensions are. Smaller devices may suffer from that same wobble I deal with, though it's really not all that bad IMO.

I would imagine doing that presents the problem of the usb-C connection not being tight enough because most cases aren't flush with the phone. Is this something to be concerned about?

how does this compare to a clip that attaches a playstation/Xbox controller to the phone?

Weight distribution-wise this is better especially if you have big and heavy (pro max and Ultras).
per my experience, clip is great with the flexible viewing angles but the best looking angle (around 30-45 degree toward you) makes the set front (top) heavy and it was uncomfortable for me to play relatively long period of time.

I was doing exactly that before buying the Kishi. The Kishi setup is a lot nicer and less bulky. Once you have your phone docked it's very similar to playing a Switch. You also don't have to toggle through your Bluetooth settings to get it hooked up like you do with a clip and a PS4 controller.
