I never heard of zero sugar syrup, but i think just very light coating of syrup would be good enough.

I had some fun with these mixes and made some dinner-style ones that came out good.
Otherwise - I was a fan of Vermont maid sugar free syrup with these. Just mix in a little ginger and/or cinnamon.
