Samsung Authentication Utility can distinguish official Samsung Products from others. It can support both Samsung Memory Card and UFD.

Basically, Amazon has a reputation of some sellers selling fake Samsung SD cards, that look like real ones. I've never gotten a fake card from Amazon, but I've read of plenty of other people that have. The fake cards will be made cheaper, and might not have the full capacity advertised. I've gotten a fake 128GB card from eBay before. It showed as 128GB when plugged into a computer. But when I tried to put more than 10GB of data on it, it kept corrupting the SD card. I got my money back, because it was clearly a fake drive and I had the evidence. Besides the storage problems, the font style, color, and size of the text on the card was slightly off from my other, legitimate SD cards. They're also slower and less reliable.

Anyways, this tool looks like it checks if your SD card is authentic, so if it isn't, you can file for a return on your purchase.

I never knew that tool existed until about a year ago when someone else posted it in another deal thread. I have 10 of these Samsung Evo Select cards that's I've purchased over the past few years and I checked all 10 of them with Samsung's Authentication Utility and it they were all valid. With all of the posts on Slickdeals over the years about fake Samsung cards from Amazon I was expecting at least half of them to be fake. I don't if I'm just lucky or if others are exaggerating about fake Samsung SD cards on Amazon.

I trust something like h2test which does a complete write and read test to all the sectors to verify that the card does have the correct good capacity than just some utility that only read the card manufacturer information

When these drives become a miniature size; it is highly likely that we will lose these in the long run or will vanish before our naked eyes. I would always buy bite sized flash drive
Bite sized flash drives, are you eating them?

Would there be any noticeable difference between an evo select and pro plus in a Samsung 5e tablet (or any android tablet for that matter?)

Does the "3" mean it's faster or slower than a "1"?

I'm considering using this in a Chromebook that has a paltry 32GB internal storage. I doubt I need anything fast, but if anyone has input I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

For anyone that knows a lot about DJI Mavic drones... would this work well with the DJI Mavic 2(?) one from Newegg? Or is there a certain storage size that is best for this?
I use the older generation (green) Samsung Evo cards with my Mavic Air 2. No issues at all.

The Select. It has been perfect. Read/write is great on these things, and real world performance (load times, etc) rival the built in NVME SSD. I have not done a bunch of extensive testing, but it passes the "I don't even notice the difference" (between the SSD and SD) test.

Can any of these match the 250MB/s that the Lexar Professional 1667x (U3 CL10) claims to get?

Perfect card for the Steam Deck. Been using it since day one. Very fast and reliable.
Thanks for this. I have a 256GB model waiting at my parents' house. I'm guessing with Elden Ring and other games, it'll fill up fast. Now the question is how big of a microSD card I need?

Isn't the Select series an Amazon exclusive? So it'd be difficult for a 3rd party to fake and distribute these, if Amazon is procuring these directly. Inventory comingling, which is the source of these counterfeit cards, would be hard if there's only 1 Amazon source.

All the other models (PRO, etc) certainly could be counterfeited.

Correct. And actually affordable price per gig too!

Also correct!

So difficult nobody has been able to match them successfully. It would be very very obvious and they would be very very angry at anyone trying it on their own site
