where are these typical US markets with monthly data allowances..?
i have none in NY, and nobody i know in NJ has allowances either.

it's like you guys are living in the days of dialup... where you'd pre-type your emails and whatnot, connect, smash send and count down the seconds, disconnect as fast as possible!!! ah the late 80s, early 90s, what a time to be alive Stick Out Tongue

Comcast was planning to roll them out in the northeast at the start of the pandemic. For one reason or another they backed off, but I wouldn't be surprised if they try again at some point

As a portable game drive it's not a terrible deal, I have a similar 2.5 TB drive soley for game storage on PS4. Although I wouldn't use it for anything else since these types of drives have a tendency to fail. However, it seems that the past year or two the prices on these drives have gone up significantly. I purchased mine a few years ago for about $60 on sale.

Is this better than the Seagate one at Costco? https://www.costco.com/seagate-on...1181.html? [costco.com]

I am looking for a dependable and fast drive primarily for backups and storing important data. Your advise is appreciated!
My experience with Seagate has been very bad. They fail too soon. On the contrary, my 3 TB WD is going on flawless connected to my router for more than 6 years now!

If you buy from Best Buy, look for special offers in cart. I see Office 365 family 3 month subscription free. I know it's not much, but better than nothing!

That's a great deal! I bought one back last year for around the same cost on Amazon.

Zero issues with the hd.

You can store series x games there but they have to be played off the internal. Non series x games, ie xbox one titles can play from the external hdd

Thinking about replacing my plex media drive with one of these since it's starting to fail. Is this a good option for something like that (more frequent read/writes)?

Can this be used at a backup drive for my Mac Mini ? USB?
Read before these WD Blacks weren't that reliable - but not sure?

Midwest still has them. At least, for Michigan and Ohio. Comcast has a 1.2 TB limit unless you pay extra for their "Unlimited" tier. Spectrum has them too, but these guys basically have an agreement in place for where they'll service areas so they don't compete against each other leading to a monopoly. Even Wide Open West (WOW), which was a great competitor and had great speeds at low prices now has data caps. AT&T for the areas I've lived still have not had fiber internet available, so just slow DSL and not a realistic option.

Also, a lot of apartments have agreements that only have one ISP allowed, so you're stuck with only one option.
