If I'm not mistaken , ants can have a couple different appetites. If a sugar based borax mixture doesn't work for you, make a peanut butter bases mix. They might go for the peanut butter I'd they're looking more for protein and not sugar.

Exactly what I did. The PB one is easier to work with and deploy, but the sugar one seems to work much better.

Had little ants in our bathroom, coming out of a light fixture. Apparently the toothpaste residue was enough to draw them in. I used an old ant bait station, cut the top off and filled it with the sugar/borax liquid and within an hour, it was a steady stream of ants and was like this for 2 days. On day 3, there were just a few ants spinning in circles and by the 4th day there was nothing. It was weird once they were gone though. I felt so alone.

Magical stuff. If you experience the smelly towel that doesn't stop smelling after you wash it... use this and it will. This stuff helps water penetrate deeper into the fibers of stuff you wash.

Get the app called Pool Math. You just input your how many gallons you have then test your chemicals (I recommend getting a Taylor K2006 kit) and enter the values and your target range and it'll tell you how much you need. If you have a large pool (like 30K gallons), you could very well need a whole box (or more) of this stuff to raise your PH just a little depending on your alkalinity.

After trying a fewer cheap ones on Amazon, I switched to the Taylor K2006 too, after a couple of years using it, I'd say it's worth the extra money.

I'm always looking for deals on bulk Baking Soda, Borax and Bleach, the three B's.

I've had absolutely zero luck using this as an ant killer... you mind sharing your "recipe"?
1/2 C sugar, 1 1/2 Tbsp Borax, and 1.5 C warm water

you could also add some peanut butter, sometimes ants like sugar, sometimes protein

borax is used to increase the ph of the pool. I used to have algae problems every year until I added borax, now I just add a few tabs of chlorine every couple of weeks.

Good price, but this is basically a lifetime supply of Borax for most people. It doesn't expire, though, so I guess there's that. If I could just buy one box at this price, I'd be all over this deal.

I don't know if this has been answered yet so I will answer...Borax in your pool is great. It's basically a water conditioner that acts as a buffer for pH, and it should lower the amount of chlorine you have to use as your water will be more stable. Water is much softer as well. When you add borax it will increase your Ph so you offset it by adding muriatic acid (i buy mine from Menards). You'll need to go to pool calcuator or something like it, trouble free pool, etc., and figure out the proper amounts for your pool. The good thing about borates is once you add them they stay in the water all season unless you lose the water (vacuuming, backwashing, etc.) . I have a pretty big pool 40k gallons or so...I will probably dump 20 boxes in at open. I just add them to the skimmer with pump on recirculate. muriatic acid is added by slowly dumping in in front of the jets and agitating water with the vacuum pole. You don't want a pocket of acid to just sink so you need to really mix it up and mix it in. I highly recommend borax to anybody with a pool. it really makes the water soft and sparkling. It looks beautiful compared to my water without it.

Totally agree with the usage for pools. A couple of things though:

1. That much at open? Is it just because you want so much borates in your water (and you offset with the acid for ph balance)? I just add as needed for raising the ph OR if my TA is low (which is rare).

2. Why do you put your pump on recirculate when you add it? I have a DE filter. The Borax should dissolve and not get stuck in the filter, so why bypass it when adding?

Thanks.
