Don't get the flip, fancy phone, horrible battery life. Fanciness wears off, but day to day battery usage is what matters at the end. Need to charge at least 3 times a day with regular usage

I wish I hadn't bought into the iPhone hype. Lesson learnt. Now I have to wait a year and switch back. Apart from the battery if anyone is considering switching I would recommend you use one for a week.

Taxes and fees on my $20 plan are $6.23. The fixed fees at some locations are high.

Yes you can do that, start a new plan and buy the phone, then invite spouse and spouse accept the invite and she buy a phone.
So your plan will cost $35 per month + tax
35 x 4 = $140

However if you actually don't plan to use the Google Fi line, you actually might be better off just start a line, then you send your spouse a referral then both of you will get $20 referral credits after she paid for her first month service

40 x 4 = 160 - $20(referer) - $20 (referee) = $120
To clarify, I mean transfer my phone number over to get the new phone, and then transfer their number over and get a phone to have 2 lines total?

I just checked on mine and noticed that it's still waiting to receive the device, though tracking showed that it was delivered yesterday. Guess I'll give it another couple of days to see if that updates.

Just got an email that my trade-in was accepted.

Looks about 2 days turnaround time? Not too bad. Hopefully I hear back by Monday

Locked or not is not one of the questions asked for a trade-in.

What are the phone models? Same as the unlocked ones sold on Samsung.com?
I heard only unlocked models from Samsung.com can be used for AT&T and its MVNO Cricket wireless.

As long as you start the plan and buy the phone, then from your plan you invite your family to add a line then your family buy a phone, then that's ok,

The transfer number part is the base requirement for the $500 promotion so you certainly need to get that done on both phone to get the promotion.

You could get in trouble when both you and your family each start a plan then later decide to join together and from a group plan, this will cause one of you to disqualify from the promotion

Thank you so much for the confirmation. Sounds good deal then!
Cricket wireless has been so picky after the AT&T 3G shut down and kicked out three of our previous phones, so evil!
We are considering really switching to Fi, but unfortunately we tried Ting mobile by T-Mobile and the signal was so bad - so I assume Google Fi would be equally bad.
