Bought the following in the past two years:
Dell G5, Excellent - looked great but had bad screen bleed, returned.
Lenovo Thinkpad, Excellent - had a bunch of sticker residue and was creaking badly, returned.
Lenovo Flex, Satisfactory - was all scratched up, warranty had expired 3 months ago. Returned.
Lenovo Flex again, Excellent - was perfect and only 3 months old.
Chromebook 1, Excellent - was perfect in box, couldn't tell it was opened.
Chromebook 2, Excellent - was perfect in box, couldn't tell it was opened.
The above Asus, Satisfactory - was perfect in box, couldn't tell it was opened except that the charger was unwrapped and it was missing the soft screen cloth they put in for shipping. It was about 5 months old.
Best of luck! I think it is worth a try especially since they haven't given me any trouble at all with the returns (yet). The real annoyance is that the sale is usually over by the time you can try for another one.

This one has 8 full-powered cores but I thought ML projects are best with Nvidia. Most of my ML research uses CUDA, so this one is kind of useless.

One other issue to keep in mind is that Asus shipped out these models with RAM with very slow timings (~2600mhz). Swap it out to 3200 if that's the case, will get big performance boost.

If I can flip it for $600, is another $600 worth the upgrade?
